Hi all,

I have a bunch of shots from a car show in the summer that I want to make available for editorial use on SS.

My first attempt of a Lamborghini fell foul of the captioning rule of using "Dateline" format captions:

Quote:
Not Approved. Editorial Caption--Newsworthy caption is required. Please read Forum thread: http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/abt40005.html

So I read the forum article and did a Google news search and came up with a recent news item that mentioned a Lamborghini Murcielago and generated a new caption:

Quote:
USA - 15 OCTOBER 2009: Lamborghini Murcielago Named As Least Fuel Efficient Vehicle by the EPA 2010 Annual Fuel Economy Guide

This got rejected with the comment:
Quote:
Not Approved. Location must be more precise than just USA, where in the USA? Please follow EXACTLY the caption (title) guidelines for editorial: http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40005

So my questions are:
1) Is it ok to find a random (but relevant) news story to justify uploading an editorial shot from my archives?

2) In this example, the car shot of the Lambo was taken in the UK in July and has nothing to do with the EPA announcement other than the subject matter. If I had just replaced "USA" with "WASHINGTON, DC" (assuming that is where the EPA are based) would that have been [more] acceptable?

3) Do SS accept editorial shots from the past? Does the submission have to be in the past week or is past year ok? e.g. the 'true' caption for my photo would be:
Quote:
GOODWOOD, UK - 3 JULY 2009: The 2009 Lamborghini Murcielago 670 Super Veloce is featured at Goodwood Festival of Speed

4) Does SS generate enough editorial income to make all of this worthwhile?!

Thanks very much for any advice :-)

You need to format your description EXACTLY as shown in the example link they gave you. If it is not EXACTLY the same in format the image will be rejected. With yours you failed to put a proper location as they mentioned and the dual dates.

The image must be newsworthy to be an editorial image.

Editorial images do sell but most of them are not big sellers.
