is this model's tattoos too much for stock?

I was contacted by a model for a tfp shoot. I recently started charging models a nominal $40 fee for a shoot with a signed release and permission for stock usage. However, I'm thinking this model's tats may be a bit too much for stock particularly her right arm/shoulder. I think I would need the tattoo artist release. She could be cute/pretty but piercings don't help either. I'm just thinking I would need to charge her what I state I charge for model shoots on my webpage (www.donjoskiphotography.com) of $125 or it wouldn't be worth my time if I can't get stock sales. Does this all sound about right to you? Thanks in advance.

looks like her other shoulder is clean. Do shoots that don't focus on the tat'ed shoulder?

Does she have to be naked? You can just cover it with clothes, too.

Yeah I would have her wearing clothes but probably some in less clothing and I would focus on her clean shoulder. I'll probably tell her okay for a fee. Thanks for your input.

Am i getting this right? You are taking photographs from Models to sell this pictures at Microstock ad the Models have to pay YOU to be in the picture???

My question is $40.00?? I think you can do better than that and find a better looking model for free.Your port is filled with Gorgeous women. what are ya doing with this person.and tat's are copyrighted.never understood why but they are.

And here is me, refraining from people photography because I thought that I would ave to pay THEM to feature in my shots... :/

They (Amateurs) will sometimes pay you or at least trade (Professionals) if you give them something they want in return.

I never pay models. Some want to be paid but there are so many more that will do it for trade if your work is good and you give them something they can use for their portfolio.

One has 50 million models without tattoos and a few with tattos, i think there's a market for those few for sure. I would love to shoot that living canvas.

Extremely true. I give them stuff that gets them work. they do for me for free. But it's not free. I spend much more time than any model spends on me posing.If ya don't give them work they can use. You should pay them.

Hello Rinder,
that`s a good point and i understand that. Giving them work in return for posing for the photographer seems to me a fair deal, if the model is new, not known or whatever. But to let them pay also to be in a shooting which is clearly for business purposes for the photograher... i couldn`t do that. Maybe i am not enough business type photographer.

If the person who designed and did the tattoos signs a property release then they can be used. It is their work and they are authorizing it be used.

I would say that the person who designed the tattoo would be the one needing to sign the release seeing that it can be considered their artwork. You would be the canvas the art is placed on in my opinion.

A tattoo may be considered a "work for hire" in which case the copyright belongs to the person who commissioned it - but it seems to be a gray area as tattoo artists haven't been much for copyright in the past and have been more than willing to copy each others work.
