I just got my batch rejected for bad focus. I think i used f-25 for the shots. Could that be it? The subject was buns and sweets. Would it be sharper if i went down to f-18 or something like that. Anyone know better than me?
Thanks a lot. |

The threshold for diffraction will also depend on the camera (crop/full frame, as well as resolving ability of the sensor).
In terms of just sharpness, my 100mm macro on my old 40D was sharpest around f/8. However, you may be willing to sacrifice some sharpness for more DOF. It's a tradeoff.
I try not to go past f/16 for sharpness's sake, and if I need more DOF and it's possible, I'll do focus stacking. |
