Saved $542 on a new 7D (over buying local retail), by purchasing from a cheap online retailer. Tracking it now, and should arrive this week. Had to order it over the phone, and went in with a "game plan." Had to deflective numerous efforts at upselling, and made sure to initiate a confirmation of the advertised/expected price at the end of the conversation (it was a different price, which they adjusted when I challenged them). :-)
I guess enough people aren't with it enough to take all the precautions, that they still make money...
Anyway.
Enjoy your new toy!
I know I will. |

thats awesome. You got them to make the sale. I went through the whole speal once. They told me that the camera was only programed with japanese language and did not come with battery or box. I told them it was fine, then they said they were out of stock and would have it within 3-4 months. I knew they were lying.
post video when you get settled in with it. |

awesome, get ready to never look back at cropped sensor again. congrats. I'm getting my second one tomorrow as per ups tracking info. I'm taking the day of work to make sure I'll catch the ups guy, although missing them has never stopped me in stalking them further down the route.
I got my eye on you ups guy!!! |

Got the 7D last night.
Beautiful camera.
It's like Canon called me up and said, Dave... what do you want in our next camera? Gorgeous. |

That's 6400??
Pretty cool!!
I shoot with a pair of D300s and I don't think I have pushed them that far. Need to do that one of these days "in my ample spare time"
....and like the D300 it's a crop!
I think if Canon added the 51 point AF of the Nikons, they would have a very serious weapon!!
I never used AF before the 51 point as it was useless, you've seen the difference 19 can make - 51 is even better.
We need to create a canikon or nikanon to come up with the ultimate machine!! |

ISO 6400, cleaned up. But my point being that even when you clean it up, there's still a ton of sharp detail and tones left.
19 instead of 51 AF points, but they're all cross-type, and the centre is additionally sensitive to diagonal contrast at f/2.8 and larger. Honestly, I don't know what I'd do with more AF points unless they were at the far extremes of the frame, and equally sensitive.
At this point, the only things I give Nikon that I'd REALLY like to see on the 7D is spot metering at every AF point, and AEB with more than 3 bracketed shots (even 5 would be much better). |

yes sir sure did. Came on time, brand spanking new and I could'nt be happier. I had a wedding last weekend and using two 5d2's made things so much easier. I had one with the 17-40L and 580exII and the other with the 70-200. Today I sent my first 5d2 away because it had some dead pixels I wanted addressed. here are some shots from the wedding. All are at about iso 1600 or so
