I think if you are uploading a large batch of images which all fit into the same categories, it would be hugely useful and time saving to have a button which selects the same categories for all images as the first image. |

I don't often post in "suggestions" threads, because I reckon Shutterstock's team has probably considered most of the new ideas already and either rejected or planned to implement them, based on their expert knowledge of what works best for the business, but this time I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and add my two cents' worth.
I like the way SS puts the emphasis on the images rather than the photographers/illustrators who produce them. Other sites that promote chosen contributors and allow detailed biographies etc on portfolio pages may benefit a few individuals, but leave other submitters and a whole database full of useful images out in the cold, away from the spotlights and buried deep in the servers. SS has already expanded their business model to include Shuttertweet, complete with RSS feeds and other bells and whistles, and that should be enough.
The search engine is the big factor as far as the main site is concerned. I'd like to see the Description field being taken into account for indexing, and also a stricter policy on vetting uploads for unrelated and irrelevant keywords. We've all had the experience of wanting to add legitimate keywords that we'd overlooked at the time of uploading, but on the other hand, being able to add words after an image has gone through the review process can leave the system open to abuse by spammers. I think new keywords should have to be submitted to a separate review before being added, even if it means that the process takes a little longer.
What I definitely don't want to see is a sort of "wiki" system or community involvement in keywording. It's one thing to be able to report keyword spamming to someone in authority, but allowing anybody to make unsupervised changes to other people's keywords is simply asking for trouble - proper keywording is as much part of preparing an image for submission as any post-processing, and should be the sole responsibilty of the submitter. That said, I understand the difficulties faced by those whose first language is not English, but that's a different problem and I'll leave somebody else to come up with a solution for inaccurate automatic translation programs!
Anyway, I've said my piece now, so I'll back off and let the discussion continue... |

2.
A view of the gallery with a way to edit, delete, mass delete (and mass edit?) pictures
And have access to stats for individual pictures
(More info: there is no proper way to delete or edit images at the moment, which really makes it a pain..get image ID, go to main page, status of submitted photos, edit image by ID, etc..)

Point #2 could be a valid improvement IMHO. A way to edit (re-keywording) or delete pictures directly from 'my portfolio' or an 'admin' link in all pictures will help to clean up our unselling or bad images...
Thanks for your thread Lilcrazyfuzzy ! |

I vote for me. But since I'll only get 1 or 2 votes, probably not me. :) |
