We now accept .eps illustrations in vector format!
- Simply upload 2 files for each vector illustration you want to submit. One file is the vector in EPS format with .eps extension (we aren't accepting .ai files at the moment -- just .eps files). The 2nd file is a jpeg preview of that vector. Each file should be named the same - except for the extension. So:
1) vector_example.jpg
2) vector_example.eps
upload both of those files - and when you get to the page to prepare your batch, the system will have automatically figured out that you have uploaded a vector. Do not visit the submission page to enter your keywords until both files have uploaded! If you do, the .jpg image will get kicked out as too small of a file (it will think its a photo). The preview should be approximately 400x500 pixels.
- We recognize EXIF information in the jpeg and in the eps
- There is a new category that vectors are automatically added to (you don't have to specify it)
http://www.shutterstock.com/cat-29.html -- in addition you can add your vector illustation to the clipart category and another category if it applies.
Let us know if you run into any snags -- we have tested for the past week - but we just pushed it live now.

great news ... now if i upload the vector and i already have a jpg uploaded should i deactivate the .jpg or keep them both. |

Good question -- since some designers don't have a .eps editor -- and i dont expect them to all know how to use .eps, i think you can keep both up there for now. |

Give us some time to breathe after getting vectors done!! :P
when it comes to flash - do you mean design components? how extensive should we support it? what types of files are needed to be supported?

Well done. sry, I'm always in hurry :P. yeah, I mean design components, animations, menu templates, navigation templates, website templates and etc. I think it has to support .mxp (components extension), .swf, and .fla.

Only swf . The rest (fla, jpg, gif image files if any) along with the swf will be zipped to be downloaded as a bundle.
The preview will be the flash file (extension swf) |

Excellent news.
Have been uploading my Victor illustration as .jpeg and you realy sacrifice much.
Being able to increase its size without affecting the quality of the image make all the difference.

I guess I don't totally understand the vector mentality.
I see whole pages of similar images for download. Must be what people had available.
It seems like each picture should be separated for individual download if you know what I mean...

Can someone explain to me what a vector is? I saw the uploaded ones, but I just want to know how they are different from illustrations? |

A jpeg is made up of lots of dots, a vector image is made up of lines connecting various points, shapes filled with colours, etc - hence if you rescale a jpeg, you get lots of bigger dots, if you rescale a vector image you get lots of lines connecting various points that are further apart - hence it's good for illustrations and clipart, but not good for a photographic image because you'd spend ages making it 'vector'...
