I am thinking that it wouldn't be too difficult to build a small software app that can show you your DL stats from your desktop.

It would have the following features:

# of Images in gallery
DL's for Today / Week / Month / Year / Total
Last image downloaded
Top image downloaded

What do you think? should we pursue it? Maybe ask Jon if he will let us poke arround in his Database ;-D

Using the Active X or FTP, we can even upload from there... (just a thought)

And it could play a cash register sound effect every time you get a download... :-) Although you'd need the option to have a nice voice call out 'you got sales' as well, so you can switch between the two... and then on days you get goose eggs it can play 'wa wa waaaaaah' on a trumpet... :-)

I don't know though - making an auto app would increase the demand on the servers compared to simply checking your stats... and I kinda like the 'wonder if I've sold any more yet' guess before checking, too - having it all spoon fed takes the addiction out of it...

Cheers,
Stuart

Actually the demand on the servers would be less than now...

The webserver databases are only updated every 15 minutes, so the app could poll the server in the same way, only every 15 minutes or so. It would only download a few bits of information, compared to the odd 42kb the stats webpage takes now...every time we open the stats page...

Also, it would seriously improve the productivity of anybody here on SS, and stop employers from banning the site through their firewall!!

The sound effects.... maybe we can make it optional? ;-D
