Ok I have this Macro lens... Actually a Damn good macro lens that, along with some care and persistance on my part is producing some damn nice images...
There is a plethora of things around me I can see as stock worth (printed circuit boards, bees in flowers, jewelry, etc....) so I have the chance to boost my portfolio, now one thing I want to be carefull of is not spending to much time setting up a shot to get "Rejected: Too many on site, check needs list"
So what do people think has been over done? Or should I submit it anyway because my image rocks?
Oh and here is a pretty sample for you (just submitted):

Nice photo!
The way I see it, if there are too many sunsets on the site does not mean new sunsets are prohibited. What I think is your sunsets have to be much more above average to get approved.
So if you are concerned abt rejections stick with the less common like your Flow Valve.

I don't think you should be discouraged from photographing anything and everything because some of the stuff won't sell.
I'd say let your imagination go, and submit what you think is high Q and vendible.
I like that picture, by the way. |

Actually, 'photos we need' are pretty much static at most sites - same with the most searched topics - Christmas is always going to be on a common search list, because what do you figure you're going to need once a year, no matter whether you resubscribe here next month or not... there is a steady market need for the same images, fresh business shots, etc - unlike food and fashion, photography of which goes through trend cycles meaning shallow dof is 'in' one month and out two months later for food, business people, attractive humans in corporate situations, etc, will always be 'desired' - another site makes the comment 'if it looks like a postcard, great' - attractive shots sell... good sunsets will sell, average sunsets, beach shots, etc, will sell an average amount, if at all...
Cheers,
Stuart |
