`Question is guys... how long did you spend... in each country..??.. were they just flying visits.. or was there an extended period.?

I'm of the opinion that anything less than 3 months is not enough to get to know a country and its culture..

And the more you know it, the better and more diverse the photos will be.

Since the title of the thread is well travelled photographer... I can't add me to the list, because while I have always photographed and travelled, I would say it is only since the digital era that I would consider myself a photographer... and the country list is not that long.

3 months for each country? just for Europe this would be over 12 years!!!

Lol!!

I guess I just like to take my time and experience the culture as well as just the scenery.

Of the few flying visits I had... Norway.. Oslo one day! Not enough.. didn't even get to experience the food. I just remember the creepy sculpture park and the rain and biting wind.

Holland... Rotterdam half a day.. can't remember it.... Amsterdam a week... only remember canals, old buildings and red light area and cheese shops....

Esbjerg in Jutland, Denmark,... was there for a day ... only remember red buildings.

Gothenburg, Sweden... also only remember red buildings.

London... 2 days.. hated it.. spent the night in a police cell and that was the most interesting part.

Germany... lived there for a year, icebergs in the North Sea would have been photogenic if I'd had a telephoto lens..... all those years ago, pre digital.

Spain... Lived in Madrid for half a year.. if I'd had a digital camera, I think my photos would have been crazy.. that was the craziest and dirtiest place I've ever lived. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I'd stayed in a hotel for 2 weeks and done the tourist trail.

Israel.. on the edge of the desert... great place to live.. great climate and if I'd only been there for a flying visit, I would probably have a very different view of life and politics there. Place was one of the most photogenic places I've ever been. Loved the landscapes.

Orkney.. Uk.. should be experienced in all weather or at least 2 or 3 seasons to be appreciated.

Many travel shots are very beautiful and I love looking at them, but they fail to tell the full story... unless the photographer gets lucky and is in the right place at the right time.

Well, I thought I've traveled a lot, but you guys... Let's see what I come up with...

Bulgaria - 19 years + frequent short trips

US - 14 years

India - 20 trips of 3 days to 3 weeks long

Macedonia - 7 days

Belarus - 1-2 months
Austria - 3 days
Germany - 2 days
France - 1 day
England - 1 day
Czech Republic - 2 days
Luxemburg - 1 day
Holland - 1 day
Belgium - 2 days
Greece - 10 days
Mexico - 4 days

Costa Rica - 5 days
Belize - 5 days

Honduras - 1 week

Brazil - 10 days
Tanzania - 10 days

Australia - 2 weeks

New Zealand - 2 weeks

Vietnam - 4 days

Thailand - 1 week

Singapore - 1 day

Not bad I guess. :) I wish I knew what I was doing with my camera during my earlier travels...

Not that impressive, but...

England (21 years!)
France (3 or 4 days trips)
Switzerland (1 week)
Northern Ireland (1 weekend)
Belgium (1 weekend)
Turkey (2 2week trips)
Greece (Crete and Kos, 3 weeks)
Cyprus (2 weeks, for my 1st birthday!)
Majorca (1 week)
USA (2 states, about 2 months)
Thailand (about 2 hours on an airport stopover!)
Taiwan, ROC (2 weeks)

Than again, I am only 21 years old...

I was in Singapore a couple of days after it officially opened, but didn't go inside. Did you actually stay there? It's not very obvious from the picture, but the top is shaped like a ship... Everything they build in Singapore nowadays has some crazy shape!

No, I've never been in Singapore, I'm just generally interested in architecture so I follow new structures all over the world. This one is amazing, that's the pool ;) :

If you are in the US, going to another state doesn't count ;-) Or does it?

And yes the States should count due to the fact that it is over three thousand miles from east coast to west coast and some traveling in the States is no different that traveling from one country to another.

So here are mine "including the States" and before digital.

Ireland/ "All North and South"
London England
Scotland
Hawaii
california
North Dakota
Kansas
Missouri
Oklahoma
Illinois
Indiana
Ohio
Connecticut
New York
Pensylvannia
New Jersey
Maryland
Washington D.C.
Virginia
North Carolina
South Carolina
Delaware
South Dakota
Nebraska
Georgia
Florida

I think that covers it pretty much.
