Let's say mom gave me $2.50 allowance. There are gumballs and suckers at the store. Gumballs and suckers are 10 cents each. If I want 25 gumballs that will cost me $2.50; I don't have any left over for suckers. Too bad for the sucker sellers, I want 25 gumballs and I have none left over for suckers. Now, say I see a bonus pack of gumballs, 25 for $2.00; Now I still want 25 gumballs, but I have .50 left over for some suckers. So I still get 25 gumballs, but I also get 5 suckers. Seems like the package deal was actually good for the sucker makers. Not BAD for them.

Yeah, but the gumball makers are the suckers, because they've just given you 5 gumballs for no profit at all, not covering their costs on those 5, and dramatically reducing the actual real amount of money they can make... the sucker makers can snigger quietly away at the gumball company suckers as they become a less profitable business, and help more people afford to buy their suckers too... :-)

Hmmmm, Southpaw, I don't know if this would confirm your worst fears of where the focus is, but my photographs are still in the queue, only since Monday for the oldest, so I wasn't expecting a review till early next week, but the vector I uploaded late last night, just to see if I could do one, has already been reviewed and accepted... maybe it's time to become a vectorographer after all?? :-)

Cheers,

You just love to add fuel to the fire dont you Stuart?...;-)
Well, it seems to me if there was a lot of requests by designers for vectors and the reason 25% of the top 50 are all vectors is because designers have been sitting patiently by to download them, then it stands to reason they are going to get as many up as quick as possible to appease the designers. I do believe that is probably the case now, but once they have a solid base of vectors things will return to first come first served. Is it fair for this to be happening? I will let everyone on shutterstock determine that for themselves. And if that is the case, then maybe a little note saying vectors will get review priority over photos until we have a sufficient number up would have been nice. Maybe not fair, but nice nonetheless.....

Okay, this might be a dumb question because I haven't read all the posts on submitting vectors yet, but is it a requirement to submit a vector with 25 individual images on it? Why not just 1 or 2? Or a smaller number, anyway...

Okay, never mind. I just read through the vector thread on the General Discussion page. I think I get it.

Of course being the new thing vectors will and should(for the time being)get priority. It only makes sense for the site,if we are offering vectors we need to have enough of them to justify people buying subscriptions.Im pretty sure the same thing happened with editorial.I also doubt there have been enough submitted to seriously affect review times........Ron

I've just crashed my laptop three times in a row trying to make a sheet of 9 vector images - they can keep that for a lark, I'd rather photograph paint drying thanks... :-)

Cheers,
Stuart
