Hello!

I've been a submitter since September 2010 (despite what it says beside my name :P) and I have found these forums immensely helpful. Everyone is so generous with their time / wisdom and I was wondering if perhaps you guys could help me out with something.

This image was rejected for "Trademark--Contains potential trademark or copyright infringement. Please see Shutterbuzz for more info".

The only logo on it was from a resort (it was given away as a free gift to a friend's mother in the 80's) and I removed it. Do you think perhaps it was rejected just for being a plastic camera? I know camera's can be dicey to submit but I have a couple in my portfolio that are more recognizable than this...

Any help you could give me would me much appreciated!

It looks like a one of a kind camera to me and if i made it i would sure know it was mine therefore Copyright/Trademark rejection.

Also a while back there was a thread discussing the removal of cameras from peoples ports so it's just another thing.

Agree with Rux. If you Google "auto fix focus 50mm" you'll come up with quite a few cameras that used that lens and body design (Time, Nishika, Yunon and no doubt many more). It's a little too recognisable.

If you're married to the shot I'd try to erase the lettering on the lens (maybe leave "50mm lens 1:6" so it doesn't look too bare) and resubmit it. Or try a crop of just the lens - I love the kooky details. I ran into a similar problem with an old Yashica 35mm, solved by removing all of the lettering apart from "Japan" and DX 40mm 1:2.6".

Rux: Yes, I was thinking this was the case with cameras. I think I also need to remember uniqueness = possible copyright issues.

Sorta: You are probably right about the lettering. good call. I am not married to the shot, but I will erase some of the lettering and give it a second go. It's a quick fix and if it doesn't make it I shall move on. I too love the kooky details! That is what made me want to shoot it to begin with :)

Dig: It is sad! but tis the world we live in. Some things being copyright make sense to me and others... well, the line seems to be moving and it's hard to know when you have crossed it.

Julianna, i would let it go. It's not the lens it's the body and design of this.
