This is done at other places, and I do not like that idea. I often feel that I finally gave priority to the wrong keywords without having a chance to do any correction.

Who said anything about denying opportunity to change? :) |

I really like SS and appreciate them responding to client needs, but my sales have almost disappeared recently. My top selling image appears on page 2 of the popular search, but on page 57 in relevant! The more buyers use relevant search, the farther I'll drop in the popular as well. It's a death spiral. And it seems to reward keyword spamming. For example, my image of a weight scale, using key words "weight scale" appear after isolated apples, hundreds of women doing yoga and even a metranome or two. Almost totally irrellevant. I'm not trying to be a complainer, but since this is still beta, I'm hoping SS can tweak the system to fix scenarios like this one. Otherwise, it's just demoralizing. |

relevance is effective as far as keywording is concerned, great search for generic material.
Dangerous and not very effective for conceptuals and ideas. |

I hope someone is doing much better... I used to sell at least 1 image a day and often multiples. Since Relevant started I've sold 3 images.
I did some searches and in most cases the clips now appearing before mine in relevant "aren't" thanks to keyword spamming. So I'd like to thank Shutterstock for that. It was a good idea to create a "random" search and call it something other than random. |

Hi SS and hi everyone,
As I've already said in many other trhreads, I've seen a big Drop Down in sales...
Maybe it's because of this new search alghotitm, even if it's only an option to select?
I used to sell hundreds of images daily and several thousands monthly... now I see a decrease of 20 or 30% .. it's too much... something wrong is happening.. I'm trying to figure out how to react about this... but I can't understand at the moment...
Will you please let us know if those general drop down of sales is a global trend or it's your new alghorith?
This is my main job and shutterstock is my main source of income and I'm worried about this situation.. because sales of new quality images are always EXTREMELY SLOW, even if the image is cool... then now the old images sells less than in the past... and so What shall we do agaist this situations?
July was always a growing months in the past year... now things are changing...
I simply don't know what to think and do... |

Hi,
I'm relatively new here and the activity going around my uploads is much smaller in size than yours. However, I used to sell daily. I've never had so many days without a sale until a few days ago, and it's still like this until now. I'm not sure what the reasons are. |

However, a general problem of the keywords is the translation from other languages into English (I assume English is used most frequently here). It is basically a good idea since it saves me a lot of time to re-keyword anything from german to english, but often the results are, hm, somewhat questionable - and will push me back in terms of that 'relevant' search.
Which does not change the fact that the idea is basically one of the better ones. |
Also, this would make uploading photos a longer process. I wouldn't like it either. |

Your portfolio has somewhat LCV photos and you need to add more photos. If you joined in february 2012, you should have about 4 pages by now if you want to keep your sales momentum going. |

After the sales dip they have not picked up again. Fortunately the same pics started selling well somewhere else, but I hope this new system will not stay this way here. |
