I am never sure whether it is acceptable to mention other stock sites directly, but I have to ask how you are all doing on bsp?

I have sold on every site I have joined except them, anybody have a guess as to why? I only have 22 shots on there but I have sold with less on the others.

I think as others have pointed out, it's a numbers game. I have 10 there, and have sold nothing. Imagine trying to find a needle in a haystack. Either it's got to be very unique (with unique and specific keywords buyers will look for), or outstanding as one of the best of many similar photos.

It will get harder here, too, as Shutterstock grows. Count on it. Just keep building your Gallery, because you'll stand a much better chance with hundreds or thousands of images than tens.

I have only 4 pics there because of templates use. Sold none for 6 months , responded to a request and got 4 sales. The thing is to be patient.

I suppose you are right, it is just a bit odd that I have done so much better at istock with just 9 approved photos.

What do you mean by templates us sapsiwai?

Regarding your first comment, useful pics will sell very well there. Its not a question of quantity but usefulness.

Regarding templates I guess you missed this thread http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2007&highlight=templates

Thanks regarding the template thing.

As for the shots being useful, they have sold on the other sites, so someone must find them useful.

Ive been doing alot better at BS lately(still not as good as here) but Im building my gallery there(only 66 there compared to 280 here)DT is about the same but even less there for images(just joined last month)I have 19 there. Not much sales for me at CS(again, less images there). Its hard to beat SS,even when its slow its still my best moneymaker by far.If I add all my earnings from the others together and multiply that by 10 I still made more here........Ron

I have 88 here, 63 at BS, 34 at CS and 13 at DT.
My highest DL rate is here at SS (also been here longest, most images here, subscription model, etc).
I have 11 sales at BS, only 2 at CS and a surprising 3 at DT (amazes me, with only 13 images).
I believe itis not the number of images in one's gallery -- I think it's what the images are -- my best selling images at SS are also my best selling images at BS.

I also think they cater for different market types...

Here is my stats:

Site / Image online / DL's

SS: 387 / 170
DT: 234 / 48
ISP: 139 / 31
BS: 382 / 55
CSP: 177 / 7

It seems my work don't fall in the Canadian's taste ;-D

In dollar terms 40% of my income comes from SS, while DT, ISP, and BS splits fairly evenly around 18%. CSP is just a waste of time for me! But...then again... I'll take anybody's money... however slow it takes to get to me!

It seems that each site has it's own market.

CSP is a strange model but you get the most per photo. When you get a large guest download it pays $2.70!! (I guess STG beats that now but haven't had a sale yet).

It was very slow for me there at first but it is picking up. In fact, I had my highest daily payday out of all the sites on CSP, a week or so ago, when I had 20 downloads in a day. What was even better, the designer emailed me to tell me how they were used and a link to the website where my images were already up. Sweeet :)

I advice you to join Dreamstime.
In relation to Bigstock, is good ...... very good.

I am gonna post my numbers for May so you have an idea on how each sites sales more or less as I have large portfolios in all of them:

So far May looks like this:

Istock $62 / 478 photos
Dreamstime $50.50 / 780 photos
Shutterstock $51.11/ 980 photos ( 80 approved seconds ago)
Bigstockphoto $37.50 / 1140 photos
Canstockphoto $31.50 / 770 photos

For the past 3 months I have had payments every moneht from all the sites apart from canstock which marginally haven't made $100 in one month :(
