Hi Everyone! I'm new here and have only started to upload a couple of photos. Forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I tried searching topics on high iso and only ran into issues about ducks...

For those of you who shoot and submit images from a 5D ii, I have a question. What is the highest ISO you have ever used on an image that was accepted? Is it easier to get away with on a 5D ii than say on a 1Ds iii (my main camera)?

Thanks for all your help and insight!

I don't shoot Canon but the ISO you use makes no difference what so ever in getting a shot accepted as long as it is technically ok including no noise. If you can do a shot properly at 6000 ISO then go for it. Generally speaking though you should use the lowest ISO you can to reduce noise.

So, it really isn't what ISO you use but how you do it and the resulting image.

For the actual ISO used I am sure some of the Canon users will be along with their experience.

I have found that 800 ISO gives perfectly acceptable images.

+1 on 800. I frequently get iso 800 accepted without any noise reduction. I've had some 3200 approved but not at full size, i think I shrunk it to close to minimal 2000x3000 or so.

Thanks for helping me out with your experiences. I was just playing around with it yesterday and the grain just absolutely floored me. I don't think I'll give up on using my 1ds ii in the studio though. The 5d sync speed is bumming me out.

Well the 5d II only syncs at 1/200 with normal studio strobes (and even then, my specific body still gets a little black gradient at one end). Most of the other canon bodies sync at 1/250.

PS. On an unrelated note, can you please show me how to quote somebody specifically?

I have the Canon 5D (first model) and the 10D I always sync my lights at 1/125 iso 100 and works perfect every time.
Im sure the 5DII is the same

The top right [quote} box in the response is how you quote someone

Thanks for your response I was unsure of what you were talking about
