I think the camera will make it difficult. The glass is ambitious at 15x ratio. It is designed for convenience and good consumer quality not for high quality commercial shots.

Im sorry , But I agree. Thats just a party camera and for $128.00 thats about all it's worth. Get a camera you can grow with. Nikon D7000 or canon T21 or something comparable and learn photography by taking a class somewhere or joining a camera club. Good Luck.

Ok sorry for even asking the forum. shutterstock was very welcoming to me as (new in the photography field, as I mentioned). I will find a camera that suits me well. I know you all take it very serious, but if photography is what you love please keep the ride comments to yourselves. I myself love the art and didn't join for you to put me down. As for the cap lock, I wrote that while I was at my full time job which only uses caps.

Don't take this the wrong way. The comments weren't rude, they were to the point in explaining what you need to be successful in stock photography. This is not a site to put basic pictures. It is a stock site that deals with stock images that are done technically well.

We are more than happy to help out wherever we can but we will not just tell you what you want to hear. We will tell the truth regarding how well the shots were done technically as well as their commercial value.

if you are serious about photography get an slr and a fixed 50mm lens. You do not need very expensive gear (despite what I tell my wife). Practice and put up shots. This is a harsh forum but reflects the comments that would be made by reviewers (but with more explanation). Have fun , put shots up and do not expect praise. Most people here take great shots and most of us can see imperfection in all we do - that is how we improve.

I use canon. In the canon a 7d with 50mm 1.8 is a great starter

I don't shoot Nikon but there is no reason why that camera shouldn't work for stock. You still have to learn to use it well though. There might be better ones in the lineup (you might want to search for or start a thread about decent starter Nikons) but with a decent lens you should be good to go. I got accepted and filled most of my port with a 6.3mp digital rebel from Canon. piece of junk by today's standards but it was capable of getting some fantastic images with very good image quality.

Best of luck

i see no problems with that. Im nikon since early 60's. it's a entry level camera. Best advice is just get the body,Forget the kit lenses and spend another $125 and get a 50MM 1.8D lens for it.That way you can build on it. cameras are disposible nowdays unfortunately. Good Glass is whats important and has resell value. Kit lenses do not.But....and this is a big but. you can spend $40,000 on a camera and still take bad images if you don't do the work, understand why and how. A better camera will not EVER make anyone a better photographer. It just makes the talent you have easier to capture things with more options. You must learn every button and how they play a part. That takes time, commitment and most of all a Talent to see and capture what you see. Good Luck on the learning curve. we are here to help But, We can't teach you Photography Like exposure,DOF and the most Importantly Composition.

Thats on you. If you believe you have the eye. Go for it. It's only money. The first thing to work on is learning to shoot in Manual mode, Not auto anything.

TAKE a class or join a camera club. It's not rocket science, You can do it.

I shoot Nikon and have shot with their cameras since the 60's also.
Most of my port has and is still shot with a pair of 6 Mp cameras Nikon D70s and D100, even though I have better cameras, which I use more for higher paying clients.

Regarding the 3100. My suggestion is for you to go to a store and take whatever body that fits your budget. See if it feels good in your hands. Camera bodies should feel like a well fitting glove in my humble opinion.

Are we talking a ski glove, a driving glove, or a golf glove here Noel? :-)
