I remember some time ago I have asked people here to tell about the internet speed they have at home.. And it was no surprise for me to discover that I had the slowest ;-) 256 kbit

Today I have connected to new ISP providing 15 Mbit ,and wonder if it is still the slowest ;-)

So lets do same survey again

What about the internet speed at your home ?

15Mb/s is pretty nippy. I have 20Mb/s and could go to 100Mb/s but really don't need it for the extra cost.

When I moved to the new flat I ordered 20Mbit connection. Only then did I find out that my wifi router provides no more than 10...

100 Mbps. The download speed is more than enough for me what I don't like is the slow connection speed when I upload to different servers (including SS), but it's also not a problem on my side. Depending on the server I average only 50-80kB/s upload speed and theoretically could be doing 1MB/s. Very annoying especially with video files.
Transition from 256k to 15Mb must be a very pleasant experience. Enjoy! :)

Thank you , but I need to say that there were intermediate values of speed during the time period passed, , 1 mbit , then 2 ,3 and then only 15 ;-)

But still seems that I am the one having slowest internet here ;-)

I think for our purposes the upload speed is more important. I get about 1.8Mb/s upload.

Nope, mine is slower, and yet, it has improved (LOL) in the last two months from what it was. I get about 2MBps/dl and 0,6Mbps/ul. That's good enough for me.

20Mb theoretically, but in fact I only get around 12Mb. But that,s no problem.
Worse is my slow upload speed of 100kb. I,m really not satisfied with that.
But last month they put fiber glass here in the streets, so now i,m waiting for that.

A couple of months ago I upgraded from 10Mb to 30Mb download (1Mb to 3Mb upload) but actual speeds are sometimes below these.

2 mbps (up to 5 mbps when im lucky), uploads are painful at 65k lol

fiber-optical is a few years away here in Australia but at least its on the way.

Anyone else in Oz using TPG Unlimited plan? Im thinking of going onto that soon. I dont expect my speeds to increase but at least I wont have to monitor my usage.

Funny you should mention that. I just upgraded today from 742Kbps basic DSL (that's max. reality is slower) to 3Mbps DSL.

Had to argue with them because they said, upgrades where no longer available for copper wire DSL and I had to get fiber optic, which was double the price!

$149 install, new modem $100, it's blackmail?

Argued, got to a supervisor, said after a long discussion, "I'm on a fixed income..." She said, OK we can do that.

Starts tomorrow. Ran this test, right after the call. So I probably only held the title for one day and someone with dial-up might be the low speed winner now?

I think some people are confusing Kbps and Mbps? 100 is kind of like a SR-71 and even 54Mbps would be smoking fast! Really?

Here's a free one.

http://www.bandwidthplace.com/

At the hotel:

Download Speed: 2925 kbps (365.6 KB/sec transfer rate) = 2.92Mbps
Upload Speed: 1410 kbps (176.3 KB/sec transfer rate) = 1.41Mbps

I know it's a bunch of letters and numbers. Maybe I don't "get it"
