I have been telling folks on this thread for a year now that with PS CS 5 you can do 90% of what we need to to for microsotock and for photography in general in ACR without going into PS, so I am glad to see someone else teaching that!

Ok here is one for you Jeff.

Laurin and others say sky replacement with trees is complicated so how would you do it i have some ways that are quite easy and here is one of my recent ones.

It's quite easy once you get the hang of it.

It takes no more then 5-10 minutes but i think i can knock that down some with the more i do.

Ok Barry very cool, but the point of the thread is to tell everyone HOW you did it :-)

Going to revitalize this thread for anyone like Jens that missed it first time around LOL!
I spoke to him on Skype today ad he said he missed it previously, so I imagine others may have also missed it.

Jeff,
You are a god among men!
As someone who is currently teaching herself to use PS, which doesn't come with a manual, this will be invaluable.

I signed up for a night class, but that's turning out to be pretty useless. It took a whole two-hour session just to go over using a layer mask to remove a uniform background. The technique taught doesn't even work with a varied background!

So another thanks to add to all those already received on the thread.

By the way, I copied and pasted the whole thing into Word. Even with removing most of the chit-chat and shrinking some of the images, it runs to over 250 pages!

pipedreamer et al,

After all these years of using Microsoft Office, I finally discovered OneNote. This program has been very handy when wanting to preserve a PS tutorial or any information on the internet. It copies both text and images for easy filing and retrieval, and even places the source link.

If you have Office, give it a whirl.

I humbly accept your astute observation re men LOL!

Who would have thought that it would have consumed that many trees, good thing you are growing more down in NZ :-)

BTW Where are you I will be in Lower Hutt for a while, Whanganui for a while, and running around the South Island with the wife for a week, then hunting somewhere else, I hope in the Seaward range near Kiakora.

While I grew up in the beautiful South Island and still consider it home, I am now based in Auckland.
