I just got a new Nikon D70. I went to Hawaii and when I came back I uploaded 27 new photos. They were all pretty good. 24 were rejected. Most for "poor quality at full screen" whatever that means. The D70 is a 6.3megapixel SLR that takes great pics. I have been shooting for a long time. Anyone else having this problem? I feel like I am wasting my time uploading pictures

The only way to comment is to see a 100%crop of a rejection. Also, could you post the Exif data for the same crop when you do post it... thanks

did you upsize your picture?
that image can not be from a 6MB camera :(
may be your compresion for jpg was to much.
check your settings

This image is compressed to much. On average a file size from a 6 mpx camera should be somewhere between 2 and 4 mb. The one we are seeing is just above 200 k. Much to small for stock purpose, you can never get a good print of that. Secondly, being to much compressed it shows a lot of artifacts.

I do not know Nikon ...

Are you shooting RAW or JPG?
If JPG, can you set Size and Quality as a setting in the camera?

I hope that you have not "spoiled (from stock perspective)" your whole holiday by having small or medium jpg set ...

I took a whole wagon-load full of good pictures once [shout] ON 400 ISO[/shout] not a nice feeling..

I had to downsize this picture to get it on the forum. The original was 3.56 mb and all of my settings were normal. I was on the highest jpg setting and the ISO is 200 which is standard for the camera. There is no ISO 100. Here is another picture that was rejected

at full size you can see blocks of pixels -
also your shadows areas looks to dark for me

try to upload here crops at 100% from the original file you sent to ss and save them at low compresion - in CS jpg quality 12.
this file is to bad to be from a 6mb camera

I am sending you a PM, with my email address, send me the original file out of the camera, I'll look at it and then let you know.

I suspect that there must be a problem with your digital workflow (the way you work your file to the end product).

I think both your pictures are great and its unfortunate but true that they are unusable for technical reasons.

To facilitate commentary, I have taken both pictures and done the following,

digital94086 sent me via email the two images as shot. I have done no post proccessing on the images except for what you read below

I have posted crops from the original postings on this thread and added them to the crops below, for comparison.

1. resized (very small) them so that everyone can easily see the whole image.
2. cut out 2 sections at 100% from the original size
3. resized the images to 2000x1330 (still inside SS requirement)
4. cut out 2 sections from the same areas as step 2, for comparison.

So here you go;

pictures looks a lot better.
try shadow/highlight in PS/CS, can help you with over/under expose part of your pictures. i don`t know how can help you with the first image but for the second will be perfect.
that building from the 2nd picture is looking like is going to fall.
try to corect that to.
try a selection of the sky for the 2nd and apply noise reduction only for the sky.

I have made no manipulation to the images Except to crop and resize.

The original was copied from the site, the others were sent to me by the shooter.

i say images are looking better from first images that digital94086 show us.
and is bluliq not blulig :)
