Hello,

when uploading city shots containing landmarks, what about signs, names and so on? Say a hotel name on the shot can be read. If I remove it, isn't it bad for the hotel? They could say tourists might think the hotel isn't there anymore. And not removing it isn't exactly what we're used to??

The names of the hotels might cause an issue even is they are barely visible. Try to avoid it.

The main reason that names are usually removed (unless done as editorial) is that the hotels want to control the type of advertisement they get. They often do not want any old shot showing their hotel because simply put they may not like it. It is their building, their name and they want to control how it is show to the world.

Plus if you are doing a cityscape you are not showing off one hotel or other building you are showing off a cityscape. It is that which is recognizable and used for travel ads and such.
