I "downgraded" my lens from a Tamron 28-300 to a Canon 50/f1.8. Hopefully, that will help with the OOF of my previous try. And I think these will have more CV, but please correct any misconceptions there.

And a few more, since the max number appears to be 3.

Sunset looks soft the others show noise and you nailed the color of the plain popcorn.

popcorn is poor compostition. Why use f5. Seems your lens is stuck on it. For table shots you mostly want good dof. F11 would be better. The noise indicated poor exposure and post processing,
Popcorn is lcv as are the others.
Sunset needs silouhette of lion ? giraffe? naked woman?? (no I do not like naked men)- something to give it some chance of being interesting.
Camping gear (besides the noise has too small a dof field with f5 and have the equipment in different focal planes. Seems to be "it is in the garage I will shoot it" What would it be used for and if you wanted it would you crop most of it out.

I think you "Upgraded" from the tamron. Also Just putting a pile of popcorn down and taking a picture just won't cut it nowdays. Anyone can do that, You need to think about it a least a little, A bowl,A bag.... something.A bit more professional. It's not like you have to do a lot of styling or anything Just more than Plop and shoot. The others have issues and won't work.

Thanks for the feedback.
And yeah, there was a reason I put the quotes around the "downgrade."
Is this getting closer?

Needs to be crisp, clean and clear.
Perhaps the not being clean is for the representation of the struggle between the two.
As in the symbol in the bowl of the Ying and Yang.
two styles competing against each other or are they as one?
It's Martial arts for those unfamiliar.
To be like water gentle and flowing but yet able to move great things to "become the cup".

This is one time where I would not have the extra rice put on the table. I would want to keep a shot like this clean and neat.

Agree with the above, and it needs a touch more light, to my eyes. Especially to fill in the shadows, which are pretty deep, but even the lighter areas look a little dim.

thats what my thoughts were as well, the rice in this one makes it look like a spill instead of adding value to the photo.

Agree with the other guys, aways lookat an image, and evaluate if an element contributes or not, if not, then it should not be there, use the KISS principle

And once more into the breach...
As suggested, I cleaned the shot up, and will include a few more (in additional posts).

As far as the lighting goes, what would you suggest? A little more fill on the left front side to reduce the shadow from the candle?
And I think "OOF" is a good term, 'cause when you realize it's ruined your shot, it's like a punch in the gut.
One more to run the gauntlet...
