I tried to submit these two photos along with seven others. They were all rejected for "conflicting dates".

This was my caption...

"LAPEER COUNTY, MI - MARCH 16: A home heavily damaged by an F2 tornado that swept through Oregon Twp in Lapeer County, MI on March 15, 2012. The house was lifted from its foundation."

The first date was the day I took the photos. The second date was when the tornado actually swept through (the day before).

Any suggestions on how I should write the caption?

Change March 16 to March 15.

They dont care when you took the pic only the date on which it happened.

You can mention the tornado was on the 15th but the dates at the beginning and end need to be the same, is what I understand

You can submit those as royalty free if you wanted. I did that with some that didn't have people in them, and it still sells pretty well. Just a regular house can't be trademarked. If you do a search for "tornado damage" like half are RF, and half are editorial. My reasoning was that it could be sold for more than editorial like insurance ads or something, so maybe I'd get more sales.

So, it would be better to try to submit them as RF if they could be?..as long as they don't have recognizable people, logos, etc.?

I think so, personally. Just put some of the location info in the description line. Do a search for "tornado damage" and check that out. Only thing is the most popular is an editorial, but the next six or seven after that are RF.

I don't see any in his photo, but if it's royalty free, you can change it. Another benefit.

Thanks guys. It does look like most of the top sellers are RF. Maybe, I'll try to submit any ones I can as RF, and the rest as editorial.

I hate to bring this up, but I need some help again.

I uploaded 9 of my tornado damage images. Four were uploaded as editorial (with logos or people), and the other five were uploaded as RF (either didn't have logos or people, or I cloned them out). The five RF ones were rejected for "Editorial Caption--Proper editorial caption format needed."

Is there a reason why the five rejected ones need to be editorial?

Should I wait and give them to another reviewer or just submit them as editorial?

...sorry FIVE editorials were accepted, and FOUR RF attempts were rejected.

It may have been timing. If the RF pics were submitted along with the Editorial ones, the reviewer might have simply assumed they were all supposed to be Editorial. In the future, submit them in separate batches, spaced a few days apart.

You could resubmit the RF ones, but be sure to add a note that they were NOT intended to be Editorial and that there are no logos, people, etc., that would require them to be.
