Keep shooting (with cam ;) those farmers at work, I'm sure it's just a matter of time with those type of rare portraits.
I don't see the keyword "farmer" or "agriculture" for instance so fix that asap!
Again if I had access to those people/locations I would keep that concept.
Good luck! |

Thank you Wiml for complement and advice. Shame that i missed those important keywords. I do it right now. And yes its great that i have access to those people but still i face problem to get their release signed.
Ps- just checked wiml but i can see that the keywords (farm, agriculture) are already there. Could you plz tell me which specific pix are you talking about ? |

It's always exciting to get more than one ODD in a day. I'm still waiting for my first EL as well. |

Thats true Jenn. i afraid that you will be 1st one to get 1st EL among all of us (newcomers) ;):D But your mind is really creative. Its not easy specially for a newcomer to get so many creative shots inside one room |

No probably not as easy for most people to find so many things to shoot inside their house. I sold handmade(by me)home decor items as a side job up until the last year. So my house is filled with items that I can use for my photographs. I also have many left over supplies that I can use to make things to photograph. I have cupboards full of paint and a workshop full of wood and power tools, lots of craft paper and buttons, and well you name it, and I probably have it. It just makes me feel good to know that all this left over inventory can be used for something.
On a side note dealing with new contributors. I have noticed the other sites I contribute to seem to have picked up. Which is encouraging. At first I didn't seem to get many sells at all. But now that my portfolio is larger and I've been on there longer sales seem to be more consistent. Still no where near the sales I get from shutterstock. But so far the top site for me is FT followed closely by DT, then RF, DP and CS are close to the same. I sell more on DP but my earnings per photo are low, where as CS I have not sold many photos but when I do it seems I earn around 1.00 to 3.00 a photo so it catches up quickly. I recently started to submit to IS which I was unsure about but even with only a few items in my port I have already sold quite a few. So I guess I will deal with there tedious uploading process for awhile longer. |

my mom and grand mom also used to make such things handicraft though not for sale but for home decoration and as their hobby. I do have rare Indian handicraft woodcraft metalwork etc. I wanted to use their photos in microstock but as i dont have lighting equipment and setup i dont get desirable shots.
I used to submit to many sites but i dont now. Just few top tiers. Now i take shots with SS requirement in mind. And i find that my acceptance rate has decreased for IS what used to be 80-90% but at that time i was having problem in clearing SS test. Now for last few days i am submitting a different sets of same pix to SS and IS. My income in these 2 sites are competing for each other. So i am happy with these 2. Meanwhile i do submit to DT once a while but now i dont bother to submit rest all. Neither i have time for them nor do have much sale there.
Once i get admission for higher studies i will submit pix related to medical field. Right now i am in an army hospital and photography is strictly prohibited in its premises. |

Hi there all.
I am here at Shutterstock since June 2008.
My first sale was in May 2010.
It took me quite a while getting my first 7 pictures accepted.
I have 688 accepted pictures thus far.
I have earned $117,17C so far.
Shutterstock is my most successful regarding earnings.
Have more then 2000 approved uploads at 123rf.com,but my earnings is $38 thus far.
Have a few uploads at dreamstime and earning is $11,72c.
Also have a few pictures at Fotolio, but shutterstock is tops as one can see in my earnings.
It is nice to read every ones input and I am glad that this tread was started.
Blessed day and week everyone.
God Bless.
Regards.
Christo. |

April has started quite well. Its a pleasure to see more than single and daily downloads (with so small port) in april after dull march last 2 weeks. Hope this may continue throughout april (and even further) ;) |

This is a good thread, Jenn. Thanks for starting it!
Let me share some of my results, and also share the huge difference in CV I see in my port. I have 44 images online, and they have been online for 4 months now, in which time I earned a whopping 37 dollars. The majority of my images were downloaded multiple times. 1/3rd of my images never sold even once.
I have one image that outsells all others by a big margin, as it is reponsible for a third of my income:
This image now ranks as #1 most relevant for "rose isolated", of which I'm quite proud ...
I have a similar image in my port that didn't even sell once:
I can only speculate what would have happened if I would not have cut of the petals and shown the full rose ... I'll never make that mistake again.
With a busy full time job I cannot spend much as much time on photography as I'd like to, but I do enjoy every minute of it. Being part of this community has been a tremendous boost for the quality of my pictures, thanks to all the critique (which can be tough to swallow, but was justified in all cases). Thanks to you all! |

Welcome to both bsluijk and Christo and anyone else I have missed along the way. It is always fun to see everyone's results and how they are getting along these first few months.
Yesterday was my best day ever and today was almost as good. I hope the trend continues. but most likely it will follow with a few bad days, which seems to be the trend, but I will take the good days as they come :) |

I love following this thread and seeing how everyone is doing!
I got my first Single Image download today! That was nice to log in and see the balance jump by $3.80 for 1 download. The image that sold had only sold once before for the standard .25c. It isn't one of my more popular Mau photos. Never can tell, I guess.
