I just joined Shutterstock this morning and submitted 10 photos..however it won't let me submit them for approval...Is it because of the keywords? How many keywords are absolutely necessary. I see where it says 50/ but who in the heck has time to figure out 50 keywords for each photo? Any suggestions as to why I can't get them submitted? Thanks for your help! |

No idea why they were rejected without actually seeing them. Go to the Critique forum and instructions are at the top on how to post. The guys and gals here won't hold back and give you truthful critiques. Listen to them as they know what they speak of.
If you're wondering how most of us get keywords, look here: http://arcurs.com/keywording/ Try for an least 10 keywords and up to 50.

You need to give us more information. When you tried to submit them did some warning window open or something saying you failed to do something? They may not have been accepted because of the size of the file. If they were less than 4 MP each then they will not be taken.
As far as keywords go you do not need 50. I believe the minimum needed is 7. |

When you say you "joined" this morning, do you mean that you sent in your required information (ID, etc.) this morning? If so, then you have to wait until your ID is approved before you can submit your first ten.

A minor point but when you submit, you're submitting for review, not approval. Once they're reviewed you may get an approval or you may get a rejection.
As far as the rest of your questions, they've been covered. Somewhere, although I can't find it, it says a minimum of 7 keywords are required. There's rarely, if ever, a need for 50. Also, if your ID HAS been approved, then when you attempt to submit, there should be a message telling you why it's not allowing it. One of the more common reasons is as stated above, that the images are less than 4 MP. The bottom line is that you need to be more specific for us to help. If you can, give us a screen shot of what you're talking about. (That can be done different ways if you don't know how - here's how I do a screen shot:
On my laptop:
I open the page, then hold down the function key (fxn) and press the print screen button (prt sc), or if I'm on my desktop, I hold down the Alt key and press prt scr. Next I open photoshop and hit file/new and leave it at the default settings. Then I hit "Paste" or Ctrl-V, then flatten the image (and crop out any blank space that I can) and save it as a jpg with a quality setting of about 8 or so. Then upload it here. (If you get stuck on any part of this, just say so and one of us will help/walk you through it.) |

If you are using PS, you can develop a large dictionary of words in Bridge, it then takes only a minute to select words for any given image.
Usually 20 or so is sufficient. |

I use about 40. But I use Yuris service if it's a new subject matter.BTW, ss requires 7 for the description, at least they did. |
