i was searching for similar thread but did not get one for my answer.
Shutterstock- counted as topmost microstock site. Ok there are few bugs now a days
but i have been hearing about its good features, though few features have been changed a bit and are disappointing but still they are much better than many other sites. Features like-
(1) Quick review period,
(2) Instant online upload of accepted images,
(3) Good support,
(4) Easy upload procedure,
(5) Genuine reviews
(6) Great forum with so many helpful and interactive professional and amateurs
(7) Reliable
(8) Good reputation in market and among photographers
(9) Above all great and satisfactory earning (for many)
and many more (probably)
Though few/many guys would not agree with me but atleast i have been hearing about these features and still utilizing these features except long review period and some missing files but i hope SS will remove/decrease incidence soon.
Experienced members probably knows SS graph in the long run (and would love to listen their experience with/in SS from past to present)
So "if" shutterstock offers/ had offered the exclusive membership then as far as i know many (if not all) will/ would have joined it as exclusive.
Then why not has it offered exclusivity ? or it may offer it in future...?
What do you think ? |

But i would love to be locked here (with the best micro site) so that no more hassle in various sites and could have focused more in my regular job. Just because of SS i am not going somewhere exclusive |

Yeah I would not go exclusive even if they did offer it. With all the sites I submit to and the money I get from them I doubt very highly if the exclusive rates could make up for it.
The exclusive setup at IS caused quite a few problems with the submitters there. It was like a battle between the exclusive and non exclusive submitters and IS treated their non exclusive ones under a whole different set of rules (or at least it looked that way). |

Probably you are right Dave. Providing some benefits to exclusives is indirect way to ignore non exclusive's benefits.
But still i would have joined SS as exclusive if it offers little benefits. As a non professional photographer, i feel sometime hard to find time for submission procedures to various site. If it continues then definitely i will have to go exclusive somewhere. I loved SS and ppl here and i just don't wanna leave it.
Another option for me is to just to submit SS without any exclusivity. but then it make me feel that if i do little extra efforts i can make atleast the same amount more from rest all sites. lol Dilemma ! |

Yes even some other idea like exclusive collections would be greatly welcomed by me atleast. There have been some cool ideas suggested by some members in "suggestions" section. i liked few of them. Like "exclusivity of few months". Definitely some members including me submit their images 1st to SS. After that i decide whether to submit my pix to others. |

If you keyword images before uploading, then submitting to a lot of sites is not that time consuming. For me to go exclusive SS would have to treble rates to make up for my earnings on other sites. Also look at what happened at IS where they lowered their rates and a lot of exclusives jumped ship.
I think it is also telling that most of the really big players are not exclusives, with a few notable exceptions.

I do set metadata/keywords Mike. Surely a guy whose job is photography would go with non-exclusivity. Because they have devoted their full time to photography. But guys like me for whom selling their images is fun or photography is their part time job, they do like exclusivity (As per my view). Yes i do make a lot more from my regular job and would make much more than i earn/will earn from photography. and when i feel that doing my job is difficult along with my best hobby and i am in condition like standing on water with my feet on 2 boats then i will have to stand on my bigger boat. And that would be my saddest day to leave my photography. I am not asking/demanding/forcing on SS or someone else but just sharing my thoughts and situation with you all. |

This is not my job either and I am not critisising your thoughts in any way, it just wouldn't be my preferred option but I am sure many would like it.

Although my port is pathetically small condsidering how long I have been a member...life got in the way, lol...I'll add my thoughts anyway.
I would like the option of making some photos exclusive to Shutterstock...maybe it will give buyers that warm fuzzy feeling that Shutterstock is the only place to get the photo. Not sure if the buyers value an image that is unique to Shutterstock, but I would be willing to experiment with the option. |

I see you are new on SS. I must ask some questions.
Do you have fast review times ?
Do your newly approved images show up in your port fast ?
Do you ever get a 502 gateway error uploading ?
Do newly approved batches go missing for days at a time ? |

I'd join editorial exclusivity.
I stopped submitting editorial images elsewhere but here long ago. |
