I got my first Single Image download today! That was nice to log in and see the balance jump by $3.80 for 1 download. The image that sold had only sold once before for the standard .25c. It isn't one of my more popular Mau photos. Never can tell, I guess.

Great opening buddy.:) Good luck for many more.

I have been waiting for my ID to clear so I may begin submissions. It's been more than three days and I'm beginning to worry. Is this news to anyone or has the internet made me impatient?

Give it a few more days. It will happen. When you do get your ID approved make sure that before you submit your first ten images that you post them in the critique forum so we can take a look and give you some advice.

I am very new to photography. I have always just been a point and shoot type and only just started playing with the camera 5 months ago. Joined the beginning of Dec 2010 and was accepted here on my very first submission (still don’t know how I did that).
My primary reason for being here is not sales, it is to learn as much as possible. My job does not allow me very much time to be able to go to school or attend photographic classes so my next best option is to read, watch the youtube stuff and learn as much as possible from the great folks on this forum.
My goal is to retire, hopefully in the not too distant future and then apply my time to wildlife photography.

I will suggest one more place to further you self taught camera studies. It is where I got my start and I recommend it to everyone I meet who is looking to further their photography education on their own. Check out this site: www.dpchallenge.com
Enter as many challenges as you can and I would recommend paying for a subscription so you can enter as many challenges as you can. It is only $25 and will more than pay for itself in the education you will receive. Not that you have to pay to participate in forums or enter the once a week open challenge but I think it is nice to have your pick. I am not getting anything from endorsing dpchallenge.com but I do feel I owe them something for all that I have learned there.
Entering challenges and having your entries scored and commented on is a great way to get a feel for if your photography is connecting with the masses. It also will expand your horizons and get you photographing things you never thought to and didn't think you would enjoy photographing until you tried. I know I never would have come up with half the ideas I did without their challenge topics.
I have met and made friends with people from all over the world that participate in challenges. I have competed on teams with people from France and Ireland and Australia. They all helped me see things in my photography I had never seen before. You can check out my portfolio there if you are curious about what I have done:

BTW: this post is meant for anyone who is wanting a fun way to learn more about photography.

Big excitement tonight when I got home from work and logged on to to find I got my first EL!!!
It's my best-selling image to date (downloaded about 14 times, a lot for me). At least it's now paid for the packet of lamingtons I had to buy to take the shot! It sold to my home state of Victoria in Australia. On a side note, I thought of that in-joke here about ducks when I uploaded a duck photo over the weekend...LOL

Hi,
New video submitter here. I've been on for a few weeks so I'm a little late in introducing myself. Please check out my video portfolio.
Cheers,
Johann.

there is some sort of bug right now for video ports. you can't view anyone's portfolio. It just shows you all of the images available not just the ones in someones portfolio.
