I know my husband will be watching that movie when it comes out on tape. I'll be watching for your pic (even though I won't be watching the movie...I hate war movies).

Congrats... shouldn't that have been an EL though? Surely it goes way beyond the license usage of a subscription image... You should report it to Shutterstock so they can follow up and send a cease and desist letter unless they pay up.

I did, just a couple years ago, get a cease and desist letter from Istock for an image on one of my sites which was, fortunately, given to me by the owner for use on my the site. It just happened that the image was also in his istock portfolio and someone reported my use of it. The istock email I recieved claimed copyright to the image and demanded 1,000.00 for it's use. I had to get the owner to write to them and say he gave me permission to use the image before they dropped the case.

Now if only shutterstock would follow up like that...

Must be a real low budget movie then, if they only pay you $35 for it. Should be way more.

The movie budget has nothing to do with it. The price is made by Shutterstock.
But it does seem this would have been an EL and not a subscription sale.

By the way, it wasn't a low budget movie. I saw it, pretty well done and high energy. Also filmed with 7 Canon 5D MKII DSLR's
Pretty cool for Hollywood to embrace the DSLR for making feature films.

You might want to research what you SHOULD have made for a use like this... and then go get good and drunk to kill the pain of how bad you got screwed.

I mean congrats that it make it into the movie... BUT even the $28 for extended licenses is missing a few zeros to the right as to what you should have earned for the use...

Had they won the case, I wonder if iStock would have cut the photographer in on the settlement... or just told him to be happy with the 30 cents he made on the initial download?
