On a trip to Norway I crossed the town of Røros. I tried to keyword this name, but it ends up in my image title as "RÃ?¸ros"

Does anyone now how to get these Scandinavian names keyworded correctly?

I have the same problem with Gaelic (Irish language) keywords. They come out looking weird, like yours.

Seems like other people "anglicize" it. I.e. use "Roros". There are a few images of that town in the system. Using "Røros" turns up nothing.

One would assume that a buyer might try the incorrect (but appropriate for an American site) version as well.

Thanks for all suggestions. I think I solved it. This is what I did:
    1. Edit the text in the web interface to be "Røros" (not easy on my keyboard, but no more difficult than writing it in this post). This looks to be successful in the editor, and I expect this will become visible on the site anytime soon.
    2. Include the Anglisized and Germanized versions of the name in my keywords ("Roros" and "Roeros")
    3. Hope for the best

Yes, above does solve it but don't bother - as Christopher pointed out the SS search engine cannot cope with "foreign" characters, so although you keyword correctly there's no way anyone can find your image based on this keyword.

Sigh ...

Roeros instead of Røros.

Ø = oe

å = aa

æ = ae

People use the oe versions etc in English language searches.

same goes for the German Umlaut which is recognisable by 2 little dots above a letter. But is replaced by the 'e' when you cant type it. oe ae ue
