jenn. You don't need any of this stuff.I have all of it. were talking 15 sec clips here. your Not gonna be doing movies, documentaries or high end weddings that need follow focus and rail systems,Matt Boxes, dollies, Jibs and stabilizers.were not selling clips to the discovery channel or doing second unit for James Cameron or commercials. we'll talk soon. And no, You don't have to worry about sound. All My tutorials I use Asden External mics and lavaliers. You don't need that. Just your 7D and good ideas and I know you have that part covered.Im going to send ya a pm with a link to look at whats really going on with stock footage for inspiration.were gonna keep it simple, Im only into stock footage for a year and a half and I'll save ya a ton of time. Keep it simple. And I'll show ya ways to make half this stuff yourself for next to nothing if someday ya wanna expand. You have a good camera and a tripod and you understand Light. For 15 sec stock, You don't need to be an equipment junkie. My best sellers are done with a D7000 and a tripod until I went with a camcorder. Thats it.I've seen these in 3 different commercials . As simple as it gets. Malibu Coastline at dawn,Merded River in Yosemite and the Griffith Observatory in LA..Just like stills,,,shoot the light. And shoot Trains going by near your house I think. Those sell well also.Look at the site im sending, study whats there and go for it.I sell Footage clips,Sound effects,Foley and music.

And...heres a nice piece for ya. get out that Manual girl.Also. This doesn't mean anything now But it will.
The Canon 7D records its movies as MOV files using AVC / H.264 compression. Thats nice and Mov is the preferred file for footage. We'll get into this later.

Well.....do it.it's only money and all my stuff was paid for in about 6 Months and I got a lot of stuff[That I didn't need btw] Sony, canon,Panasonic all make very nice 1080P video cameras in the 5/600 dollar range. When I started video I went full Bore , I bought 5 cameras starting at $6,000 for a sony EX1, my current one costs about $900.And it's perfect for anything I wanna do.Of course Im lucky to have the largest camera store on the west coast that I've been at for 35 years so I can return stuff in a reasonable time.Panasonic TM700 or HC900 are AMAZING little cameras. Full auto or full Manual and 60FPS. Thats huge.Only drawback because Im Mac using FinalCut Pro is they are AVCHD files. I have to convert them to MOV.Photojpeg/Prorez422. Windows Likes AVCHD. Mac doesn't.I also tried DSLR's. I just had to many problems with focus and non articulating screens and of course had to buy a $1,000 external 7 in Marshall Monitor to see the damn Image., Had to go Camcorder.I still use the monitor on a PVC rig I made for hand holding. And Image stabilization is mind blowing now.Fun stuff.

There's a Shutterbuzz article somewhere about doing footage with a Flip Mino. I have one of those, but somehow I don't think the quality I'm getting would be acceptable. But I've only tried it a couple of times.

I'd like to talk about this sometime next week in Arizona. Wow, just one week!

And to Jenn, now that your thread has been thoroughly highjacked—although I think you've been doing some of it yourself :), congrats on the EL. Guess they're exciting because they're so rare. (Wouldn't mind getting a little bored with them!)

They don't accept flip But video cameras dont have exif data so how they gonna know, If it's good with the current reviewing staff. Thats what got me into Footage. My first youtube stuff was flip. great Little camera Just Kinda blows apart though. The $299.00 hero HD is being used a lot. But very limited as what it can do. Personally I would stay with a good camcorder. But as you know and it's true It's the person behind it. See ya very soon My old good friend.
