I admit it is a question for a biginner in illustrator. Fow a while I have fallowed a dvd tutorial made by linda . It is called esential training.
So after I create an ai file I know that I can save into eps as well. I also saw that when you want to upload a vectorial image must upload eps + jpg.
Good so far. But how somebody that is buying an eps file will use it? If it is eps file he can still modify the document right(when open with adobe illustrator)?
As I have seen in Photoshop it is no way to properly use vectorial image as it is rasterizing it.
So please be kind and give me a tutorial or something to understand.
PS: I haven't yet finished tutorial... |

Yes that's what buyers will do they will either use the image as it is in the eps file or they modify it or take elements from it to make a new image because maybe they couldn't find that one file to make what they needed.
Photoshop does not do true vectors like Illustrator can. Also upload a large jpg raster of the image as well. Because some buyers out there don't have or can't get vector editing software. They don't sell too often but they do sell.
Good luck and if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask. |

Hi
I'm not sure I understand this: are you saying that JPGs don't sell that often?
I'm a bit confused about how to get the best income from my images. If someone can download a vector which can be scaled to any size, why would they buy a hi-res JPG (other than the reason you just gave).
Do we get the same payment from a vector and a hi-res JPG? |

Jpg's get the same amount as vectors. Some buyers don't have programs that can open eps files so they opt for buying the jpgs.
It is different though for On Demand sales. Eps files get the top amount for the pay tier that your in, jpgs can be bought at a few sizes (for ODs) which your revenue will be different for depending on which size they purchase.
Vectors do sell more than jpgs but jpgs do sell just not as much. |

Thank you - that helps.
I've got a vector series I've uploaded, and I've made made some adjustments - mainly to the colour scheme. I thought they might be too similar to upload as vectors and might get rejected, so I'm planning to upload as JPG only. Could you advise me on whether this is the right decision?
Here are two examples... |

It never hurts to upload both the vector and the large jpg images of both versions. Odds are something's bound to be accepted. Most of us usually do both upload the vector then upload the raster. Sometimes they take them both, sometimes they take the vector and not the raster, sometimes they take the raster and not the vector and sometimes they don't accept either one. All we can do is do our best and see what works and what doesn't.
How I feel is if they get accepted great if not I shrug it off and move on to the next thing. That's all we can do. |
