I sent them asap to make sure I'll make money because today EVERY SINGLE NEWSPAPER was looking for pictures of Discovery on short final to Dulles airport or over Washington DC....

HOWEVER PICTURES ARE GONE....there is no pictures in portfolio and Shutterstock is pushing me BS that customer can look for image by ID number LOLLLLL
THANK YOU SHUTTERSTOCK! I SOLD ZERO Shuttle Space pictures today! Now go online and check one news that ALL big, small, medium magazines, newspapers had in common today..... see ?? yep u right.... Space Shuttle Discovery Arriving Washington DC.... Next Monday Shuttle Space Enterprise will be arriving JFK Airport in New York and guess who is going to be at the runway taking pictures ?? THANK YOU SHUTTER STOCK GREAT JOB, WAY TO GO ! Keep selling pictures of pets, hands and textures... Yes I can say that I'm a little disappointed..... |

they dont show up the very instant they are accepted. your shots are showing up now.
they could take a day or two and sometimes videos take up to 3 days. photographers that work for the press or associated press usually get their stuff public out there pretty quickly...like here...
http://www.apimages.com/Search.aspx?st=k&remem=x&kw=discovery+shuttle&intv=None&shgroup=-10&sh=10
I'm not sure that newspapers that need late breaking news look on stock sites.
your shots are pretty awesome, the jet planes ones as well. |

Thank you for your kind words and support :)
Never happened before that accepted pictures are not showing up in portfolio for a day or so.... I sent pictures few hours after Discovery arrived Dulles Airport in Washington DC, they got accepted after an hour or two but they showed up in my portfolio today morning :)
I sold few pictures at getty but this is much complicated then I was expecting. There is no way you will get full access to getty or AP or Corbiss etc as a private person.... Hey AP can you hear meee ????? Open the door it's meeeee CHRISSSSSSSSS :))) |

Chris, that's terrible, that your images lost out when you did everything right.
How did you get your pictures reviewed so quickly in the first place? I've been wondering how SS deals with time-sensitive news images or footage -- since it usually takes days and days to get new stuff reviewed. I've submitted editorial images and it's taken the usual amount of time -- 8 days for the most recent bunch :(
I had hoped that submitting images as editorial would trigger some kind of fast track review, but that hasn't happened. So I've just assumed there's no mechanism to deal with hard news here at SS. I've only been submitting here a few months, since January, and still trying to figure stuff out.
Hope you can shed some light... Thanks. |

cdrin I have no Idea how it works. I'm getting answer about my editorial pictures usually 2 hours to 24 hours. It could be related to amount pictures in portfolio and sales so far etc. Like I said I have no idea how this is work. I really don;t know a lot about stock market :) I started some times ago with stock pictures but this is not something what I want to do. I must think about feeding family and to on micro stocks let's be honest maybe 10 people in the whole world is making "some" money but still amount of work that stock pictures require is not worth a money most of the time. Please don;t take me wrong stocks are awesome way to make some extra money for gear upgrades etc and thats how I use my micro stock money. I'm an avaiation photographer, there is not many of us on the market and I'm trying to use this to make extra money :) I sell pretty good amount of pictures here at Shutterstock but you know for 0.36 per download or $28 if you lucky you need need some time to collect useful amount of money :)
To answer your question how to speed up the review... If I have something very time sensitive like those pictures of Discovery I add note to the reviewer about what is this and how important is to move them to the top of waiting list.... I'm not sure if this is helpful or not but seems like they read notes and I go answer after an hour I think...
BTW it happened to me few times that I had pictures reviewed in 5 minutes after submission....
I wish you all the best and have your eyes on everything whats around! Blue Skies ! |
