It is about what we are viewing that other people post!!!!!!!

Not my workflow or anything else but what you are seeing on your screen when someone posts a 100% crop.

Are you looking at their crop with a screen size of 200% magnification or are you looking at their crop with a screen size of 100%?

This makes a big difference in soft or not!!!!

I edited my last post to tell you that you're right. You are only talking about viewing at 125% or more in IE. I think the way you explained it was too confusing or maybe it's me who is too simple. :o)
And in firefox as well.

So you are saying that if people have their browser set to zoom/magnify, then the image will look softer because it effectively reduces the ppi? I understand that logic and it makes perfect sense.

However, I wonder how many people routinely have their browser set to zoom/magnify. I know I never do but other people may differ.

Correct it is quite simple.

If the type is small and hard to read for some people then they will magnify the screen.

It is quite simple. Maybe a little over explained but it does make sense.

Yes, for me it was overexplained and I guess I didn't read attentively enough. This is certainly an explaination why it would look soft.

I do use my browser at 125% or 150% sometimes if I'm tired or if the text is quite small like Barry said. Also, not eveybody has a 20/20 vision. If you have a smaller monitor at a resolution of 1920x1080, the text is smallish.

Finally made it back. Now I see where you're coming from. Since I only have things set at 100%, that's why I never saw any difference.

I finally got what you were saying, Barry. Confusing, because my IE is always at 100% (who uses 400%?)

Some people depending on screens may be using 125% - 200% so they can see it better.

The solution would be to use the zoom text only setting.

Wow Barry, it took me all the way until PJ made his comment (page 3) before I could understand what you were trying to say, and I have an IQ of 138, so I think it was the way you trying to explain it that had us all perplexed. The "paint" vs PS switching of terms, and the 125%, 175% 200%, switching around didn't help one bit either.

I like PJ, Russ and the others have NEVER had the programs on my monitors adjusted to anything other than 100%, it seems like a recipe for folks to get their head stuck up their asses chasing their tails over imaginary problems. I for one cannot imagine why anyone would do it, I have no problem reading the text as is. Maybe if you use this modus operandi, I suggest you get some new glasses :-)

It's not for me Jeff but who is to say that some reviewers aren't using more then 100% when they are reviewing? We dont know do we? It raises questions?

But your point wasnt the reviewers, but people complaining their image look softer here than viewed from their PC?

But this also applies to reviewers as well.
