Anyone know this bird species? It's some kind of tropical bird. Shot in a zoo.

Hi Rob,

It looks very much like Shelley's Starling (Lamprotornis shelleyi), but the head colour seems more black in your bird.

Sometimes on websites of a zoo they list their animals. It might be on there.

I tried that. Worked for another one, but not this one. I should have looked around to see if they had them named somewhere.

Found this though, looks like the same bird. It's just labeled as a "starling".



So shelley's starling it is. Or maybe there is more than one kind of "starling" with different degrees of head color.

Actually, I think I found it. It's a superb starling.

Superb Starling. They are common in East Africa
