I really hesitated a lot before submitting the image below, mainly due to :-

1. Low acceptance of prior flower images
2. Thought this one would get binned for poor / uneven lighting.

Anyhow, taking Rinder's advise on shooting unusual angles / persepctives of flowers, took a change, and to my happy surprise the image was accepted.

Why do you think the one on white was accepted but the ones on black rejected, just because of the angle ?

They should have given you a rejection reason.

The colours appear a lot more vibrant on the one on the white background and there is a lot more variation on the shading. The two on black appear rather flat to me.

Simple. The one accepted is unique. A reviewer probably sees a hundred boring flower shots a day. The first one has interest, The others simply do not and anyone could have done them. Good Job!!!Surely you can see the power in #1 That the others don't have. Carry this to everything you shoot.Also...Try shooting a flower that not everyone shoots. Gerbers are done to death, also Lillys.

Rinder, yes, i agree this one is unique, and that why it got accepted even with 'uneven' lighting :)
On another note, am not sure who would want to buy an image like this. Lets see how many sales i get on this one, none so far :(
