Hi all,
I'm a bit of a noob around here. I've been submitting photos since September 2011, and I'm pretty content with my earnings so far.
I recently went onto these forums for the first times, and one of the first things I noticed was peaople throwing around all kinds of abbreviations. Could someone tell me what EL, OD and SOD mean (or perhaps some more abbreviations that I haven't encountered yet)?
Furthermore, I've seen people saying things such as "April is usually slower than March" and so forth, making me think that there's some kind of usual trend of image sales. Could anyone tell me some more about this?
Thanks,
Maxim |

EL - Enhanced License
OD - On Demand License
SOD - Single image On Demand License
OOF - Out Of Focus
DOF - Depth Of Field
OP - Original Poster
LCV - Limited Commercial Value
RTFM - Read the Fuc*ing Manual
As to your question about sales and the different months there are months that will usually show more sales. It is common practice for buyers to buy the images they need several months before an actual holiday or event. That is why certain months will usually generate more sales.
For example, many of us have great months during the early fall in September and October because of Christmas and New Year sales. The summer months will generate good Thanksgiving sales, Late Spring and early summer will bring on sales for Going back to school and so on. That is why we submit shots for specific holidays etc months in advance.
I do have a rule for sales in stock photography that I have said many times.
Rule #1 - Sales will go up and sales will go down
Rule #2 - You cannot change Rule #1 |
