I'm looking for a good, simple, online photo proofing service or software I can host on my server. I do not want a smug mug type thing where the whole goal of the service is to drive sales threw smug mug - I have contracts with commercial clients and they are buying directly from me.

I just want to have a simple system where I upload proofs and the client can tell me which ones they need ordered. That simple. Smug mug just doesn't look like the right choice for this.

Thanks!

You can try zenfolio. They could just comment on the ones they want printed, or at some point, you can set up a price list and sell through them if you wanted. You can do it either way.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

The complication here is the nature of the client. It's a business and we are doing advertising shoots - so there is a lot of back and forth over whats being shot, how it's edited, etc... All of these sites seem like they are aimed at the wedding shooters or anyone else selling to consumers instead of other businesses.

How about Pbase.com? I don't use it myself but it seems more like a proofing site than zen or smugmug.

Pbase is more inline with what I need, but dang, kind of a lousy design... I might try out flicker private galleries, comments, favorite stars... could be the answer.

Do you know how to get the passkeys working? Can't figure this out at all.

Just so you know - you can direct smugmug to your domain name and could do galleries that were not set up to print...smugmug is very affordable and has lots of different designs and options to choose from...Hope that helps.
