I'm afraid you'll have to come up with your own ideas if you want to be an illustrator.

Start by looking at the best selling illustrations, and see if you can come up with something new and different, but on the same topics.

Now thats a question :) I think for the first ten you should draw what is close to your nature. Dont force yourself to copy the best selling ideas right at the beginning - instead try to show your own style.

What do you like to draw or design? Shutterstock still takes almost everything if its well-done: illustrations of people, animals, objects, landscapes, icons, food, flowers, business stuff, religious stuff, comic characters, seamless patterns, holiday events, various backgrounds (floral, grunge, retro, abstract...) and many more :)

Maybe abstract backgrounds are overdone already but I still see new ones being approved so if its good enough, it may pass.

You can draw in serious or funny style, what suits you best. Or both :) Variety is a good thing for your first ten!

There's your idea right there. Create an image of an overwhelmed person who can't decide what to do. That's image number one. ;)
