Missing metadata

After what seemed like hours I uploaded a video clip only to have a message saying that the clips metadata couldn't be read.
I filled in the metadata in Lightroom for the clip.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong

That's the confusing bit.Filezilla says the upload was successful but when I get to the page to edit files it says the metadata cannot be read and I can't see the file.
On another site it's as you say I have to put the keywords in after it has been uploaded.
I have tried 4 times now and at 90 mins per go I feel like screaming.
Any ideas or help you have is appreciated and if you were in Greece a beer or two
