Hi there!

Did anyone know if canon 100mm is a good glass for portraits compared to canon 135mm? I have the second one and I think it a great lens but it is not versatile. Since I am planning to get a macro one, I thought I could kill two birds with one stone if I get the macro. If my assumptions are correct, I would have a great lens both for portraits and macro as well.

I know that 135 is fastter, but beyond that any other great difference?

Full frame or crop body? Both do an excellent job for portraits. 135mm was the old standard with 35mm film. The 100mm would be roughly equivalent with a crop body. In truth, either would probably be fine on today's cameras.

FF (5DMKii). My main concern is about IQ. 135 is really good. Is 100 macro on the same IQ level?

Unfortunately I don't know. I've threatened to buy the Canon 100mm Macro lens for the very purpose you are considering, but just haven't done it (I already have Canon's 180mm macro lens). For most of my portrait work, I use Canon's 70-200mm f2.8 lens. And most of those shots seem to have been taken between 100mm and 130mm.
