At least I have a job that can pay some bills, this one sure wouldn't....LOL!!!

Seriously, this month has been much better than I expected, except for the major lack of ELs. Outside of that I can't complain.

I'll take some rain, though... send Beryl my way!!!!!!!!

The egg sounds interesting Sari ... cant say I have ever seen a pullets small egg. I did see an egg laid without its outer shell once, now that looks weird, an egg with just the membrane round it.
Happy birthing day to your son. Its a bit daunting when they exit their teens.

Kelly my dl's have been abysmal for ages. It might have something to do with no uploads though ... I know I have to increase my port size to get anywhere.

Susan you sure are a wealth of information, but what you say about the eggs makes sense. How old is your boy Susan? My two still party hard. One is 30 and the other 27 ... they like to party out here lol.

Barry, is the pool yours? I often wish we had one but dont want to look after one. (too cold to be swimming here now anyway)

Yep Wendy all mine.

24 across feet by 52 inches deep (round). Now they make a 26 foot one. But i really wanted to get the 18x36 by 52 just didn't have the extra cash required for it.

I use the salt water system and spend $20 for the salt to maintain it instead of the $85 for Chlorine, $15 for ph up, $15 for ph down, $35 for stabilizer tablets and more, then i use the test strips to make sure the water is right and balanced unlike oh about some 99.9% of other people who don't.

One and done for me i used Chlorine on previous pools but the salt is easier and less expensive.

A little vacuuming and skimming once in a Well join the club all i had 1 yesterday and so far 1 today and tomorrow is the Holiday so who knows?

Not good Anita!

It would be doing nothing more then extending the review time and making it longer!

Gee i wonder if they will ever get back to normal?

I am headed to put more images on the computer for tonight to work with and go through and they include the big old Snapping Turtle.

the gig was on. we had 2 days to do a 4 day trek. arriving in time to figure how to shoot the main event was all that mattered. it's hard to convey this to someone who doesn't speak your language very well, but motoring over 5 passes in a day and finishing the final 10k's in a little over 2 hours got the point across.
the myth dance of the tichi in lo-manthang is a centuries old tradition. the lead dancer, a monk who has been in seclusion for 3 months prior to the event plays the son of the evil father and over 3 days destroys the bad juju for a promise of abundance and prosperity. in the arid high altitude landscape of northern nepal, this is a serious matter.
after 2 days of 'work' i had time to explore the region a bit before having to head back. there are still nomads herding yak and goats, monks living in caves, and timeless expanses of solitude and stillness. there is a ticking clock with the road from lasha almost completed to jomsom. the silence and darkness may soon be lost in favor of trucks, jeeps, and electricity everywhere.
tom laird and peter mattheissan put a book together in 1995 after their initial visit - the first permitted tourists allowed in 1992- called East of Lo- Manthang. i browsed a copy yesterday morning noting that the king is now much older, and development has altered the city considerably.
one flight down 4 more to go. the carcass of the wrecked plane still sits on the hill in jomsom.

Oh how one day the entire planet will no longer be untouched by technology and the modernization of the new civilized world.

indeed it is, wendy.
because i made a freshman mistake of leaving a battery charger behind - i totally had a mental in kagbeni when i realized that for the next 12 days i had two batteries, and an AA 8 pack back up. not a jolly feeling.
ascending the thorung-la pass from muktinath and back in a morning was amazing.
i would go back, soon, to pick up the missing pieces...

this is a good summary of the event:

The Tiji festival is a three-day ritual known as "The chasing of the Demons" and it is centered on the Tiji myth. Tiji tells the story of a deity named Dorje Jono who must battle against his demon father to save the Kingdom of Mustang from destruction. The demon father wreaks havoc on Mustang by creating a water shortage which, in this extremely arid land, is the most precious life-sustaining resource. Dorje Jono eventually defeats the demon and banishes him from the land.
Tiji is a celebration and reaffirmation of this myth. Throughout the festival the events and story of the myth are re-enacted. The festival is timed to coincide with the end of the dry season (late winter/spring) and ushers in the wetter monsoon season. Tiji comes from the words "ten che" meaning "the hope of Buddha Dharma prevailing in all worlds" and is a spring renewal festival that also celebrates the triumph of good over evil.

where there is heat and pressure, kelly, there are diamonds.
