Hi, Could I please get some feedback on these images and whether they would likely to be accepted or not. And if not, what pointers would you give?

Thanks!

Debs :)

I like the second one. There is a bit of noise visible in the sky above the snow.

Ok, you are utilizing several good photographic principles in your shots. You use the Rule of Thirds, you have decent composition, the lighting for the most part is pretty good and your focus is not all that bad.

I would forget about the night shots if these are going to be for your first ten. Night shots are difficult to get done well enough for acceptance. I'm not too sure about your white balance with the night shot and the long exposure time has messed around with the focus and created some artifacts.

I think the commercial value of the landscape shots would be somewhat limited because they are rather generic. Stock landscape images need to really grab the viewer and make them want to go their because it is either a known recognizable place or one that is unique enough to make someone want to go there.

Let's see what else you have.

Agree with Dave. Nice sky in the 2nd shot especially, but I don't know that the scene as a whole has much commercial value.

I have the idea the 3rd shot is Queenstown in New Zealand.

#2 is your best But all are soft and kinda generic. #3 is way torn up with Noise and artifacts.Almost a blur.

A
gree with Laurin! Soft, to the point of blur, I am guessing no tripod

And yes it looks like the traditional shot from the top of the gondola looking down at Queenstown and the Remarkables :-)

Thanks all for your feedback really appreciate it. :)

Will try and get round to uploading some more soon.

Yes, good spotting it was Queenstown, I’m based in New Zealand and went there for a few days break away.

Regarding the night photography shot this was my first attempt so really good to get your feedback. My settings were f2.8 30sec and ISO 200 on canon 5dMII a 16-35mm on a tripod with remote shutter release. It was mentioned about noise and artifacts…. would you change the settings or could you recommend some better settings for night photography. But thanks for the tip not to use night photography in top 10 particularly as we haven’t nailed it yet!

Any suggestions on getting my landscapes a bit sharper, general base settings to start from etc

Thanks again,
Deb

30 seconds is a long time to get vibrations of any kind that could make the shot go OOF. Could be anything from you moving to a car passing. Also I think the wide open aperture is not the best for sharpest results. And ISO 200 shouldnt be a problem on a 5D MKII but why ISO 200 if you are going for long shutters anyway? Shoot at lowest ISO to reduce possible noise.

My two cents.
