Is anyone using TetherPro? I'm new to photography, (just over a year of taking photos for stock and before then I had no interest in photography!) so if this has been discussed and is old news then forgive me.
I found it on ebay over the weekend, downloaded it and I'm very impressed. The only thing I felt it was missing was a self-timer so I contacted the creator and he says he will add one into the software tonight and send a bespoke beta build across to me! I've put 2 links below - see what you think, a good find? seems ideal for self-portraits.

I have not tried it, let us know how you get on with. I have several freinds using other products on Nikons and Sony's and it makes studio work extremely nice and easy. |

I don't know. Looking at the software description, it doesn't do any more than what Lightroom already lets you do, which is take the shot and download it immediately to your pc via a USB cable or wifi card. It doesn't look like it lets you control your camera from the computer like what Laurin is talking about. |

I shoot with Canon and their utility which is supplied with the camera allows you to fully control the camera for tethered shooting, then download images directly to the DPP RAW editing package.

Thanks for the replies. I can confirm all camera settings are controllable from the software and you can see what you are taking before you fire the shutter (liveview) not just after.
If anyone is interested I suggest you contact the creator, he has been very helpful so far - has already added the self-timer I asked for.
I can now be in front of my camera with my laptop to one side, change camera settings and focus, click the shoot button and have enough time to bring my arm back in shot. As I said, ideal for self-portraits. I haven't used any other tethered liveview software so I can't compare but I can't see anything missing that would be required.

There is a free alternative for mac called Sofortbild (German for instant image) that does what you want. It works on Nikon, maybe not on Canon.

The photo capture app thats already on you mac can perform the basic, but I haven't used it myself.
This works and is for PC, not as stable as needed for Pro-use, but for occasional use it does the job.

Just something you can try and have fun with time-lapse photography for example. |
