aside from being discrete and lightweight are there any additional benefits?

Continuous AF in Live View and video mode with the new capable dslrs (e.g. 650D announced yesterday).

thats a pretty sweet feature. it will do it with all lenses though, not just the 40mm.

well, Thats been claimed before, well see. I hope so. 40 year old camcorders can do it. never understood why DSLRS cannot.
