36.3Mp...nice!
A friend was telling me I should think about upgrading to that camera as well, he seems to think it would give me an edge in this business (I have the D700).

Do you need a D800 to shoot a photo of a car key? You can get that done with a P&S camera :0)

Not much difference then using a Hasselblad H4D-60 Digital SLR Camera on a model. It is about quality in my opinion. Thinking of the D800 myself, but the D600 rumors have my interest.

All about what you can justify for yourself. Personally, it would take five years to pay for a D800 so I can't really justify it. For SS I downsize to 10MP anyways becasue I don't see why I should give someone a full res image for .33 cents.

Different strokes for different folks.

I think I will pass on all of them and go medium format. If they ever come out with the D400 I might go with that as well but I have a feeling that one is dead in the water.

if we went that way we should have a D40, sure its more than enough :D

1 - more size means more money (not here but perhaps designers are looking for that too in here)
2 - better control of ISO/noise (shooting indoor or even at night)
3 - cropping
4 - downsizing (if not as sharp or noise too)

I am sure there are ton more reason to get a FX camera

again it all goes with the type of earnings you are getting and also how much are you willing to work to pay it off

Do you like the D800?

All 3 of the images could have been shot with a point & shoot camera, but they weren't. Sooner or later every photographer realizes that the size of the original and the size of the light reception media does matter. Anything worth doing is worth doing the best that you can. Right now the D800 seems to be the best out there for the price. I have a friend who shoots jewelry and he sold the digital back to his Hasselblad in April after shooting with his new D800.
