Saw this posted on FB. Joe Klamar is a photog for GI and shoots a lot of sports and celewbs in natural light settings. He really isn't all that bad at it, but this...?

So is it a joke?!?! This can't possibly real. Those photos are almost worse than amateur and the expressions and poses are even worse.

they aren't the official photo's.

Somewhere in the comments below this article stood this:

"It's not that this photographer was "HIRED" to take these. It was a summit where they answered questions and had snapshots on make shift setups by lots of photographers"

Very true, but one thing I've learned over the years is to only show my best images. (believe me, I have lots of bad images. :P )

At least he got plenty of mileage out of that one piece of seamless.

You don't know how this blogger obtained these pictures. We don't even know if these are really this guy's pictures.

Either way, they make it sound like these are his and that these are the official Olympics pictures and that this photographer really sucks. In my book that would qualify for slander and this blogger should be B*tch slapped or put in chains and thrown in a dungeon if you prefer or make him/her take mandatory pictures of birthday parties of 2-3 year olds for the next 10 years. (that might be too harsh)

I agree they are bad but looking at them many of them appear to be unprocessed or edited images. In several of them the end of the seamless paper is seen and the composition looks to be unedited. Hopefully this is not his best work.

He can't be serious with those as final results!! If so, and he's trying to be cutting edge, he has wasted the athletes' time! They deserve better!

Those were apparently NOT the final pictures. They are not official pics at all. They were just snaps taken because the opportunity came up.

Hence my recommendation what to do with the blogger! The blogger scr*wed it up. Not the photographer.

This photographer in not a GI photographer either. He is a freelance with stock portfolios with GI and the big C. (if he was an official GI photographer, GI would never allow him to have a port with the big C)

Looks to be Klamar's bio.

I'm guessing that he submits to GI on a semi-regular basis but he does have images (not many) at Big C.

Google his name and one of the photos was used in USA Today. That shot looked fine to me. These are probably pre-edit.

My photos come much better from camera than these. They are horrible...

On a side note...
Some time ago, I've made a session for a model and due to her hurry to get the photos, I made the online proofs available with no editing. It was a sensual session and the editing would take much time (to fix her, hehe)... For my surprise, the girl got all the proofs using printscreen and then posted the photos on her profile on a social website. Even the worse photos (ie, when strobes failed or the like) were online in the day after.... And all proofs had watermarks containing the following text: "Online proofs. Please don't copy. www.flashbackfoto.com.br"

Well, even producing much better images from camera nowadays, I don't put my name anymore on proofs. And I also don't make unedited photos available for clients. Living and learning.
