My sales have completely dried up and I just checked my gallery....
What comes up under "popular" is a joke and is mostly images that have had few if any sales.
No surprise that I my sales have disappeared if my site is displaying nothing but Easter eggs. |

It's been going on for months and seems like it is some new search algorithm that SS is implementing. |

I guess that leaves the question "What search algorithm is being applied to most popular?"
It would seem that my most popular images, would remain my most popular images, based entirely on the sales attributed to each image.
Application of an algorithm or formula to determine what is the most popular would be contradictory to common sense. |

yes, i've just found the same error now, when looking at my gallery by "most popular", only maybe the first 30 pictures are ok, the rest is classified by download date and means nothing. |

But times could change and that same image might not have sold for the last say 6 months making it no longer "popular" even though the all time sales number might be high. |

But then why would images that have never sold show up before regular sellers? |

It's not a question of images sold or not, they are grouped by the same batches, like the days we've sent them before!!! :( |

At least I know now, that it's not just me. The first few images are right, but the rest are completely different. |

The current Popular search is completely BS and wrong as of sometime yesterday if not before!
I now have images that have never sold that are now the most "Popular" and they are three years old and were some of the ones i used to get approved.
For instance number 22 of my most popular has never sold and is three years old so how can that be "Popular"?
And a bunch of my what used to be most "Popular" are now more then 5 pages into my port?
Sales have dropped while this has happened and yet before this everything was fine!
My first page of most popular has more than 75% of the images from my last page of images from three years ago that were the first ones i submitted!
So why is this happening?
My what used to be my most popular top three are now #3 / #4 and #11???
What was my #1 most popular has dropped to #4 and my #2 is now #3 in front of my what used to be #1 and my #3 is now #11?Huh
Searching the site by keyword for one of my most popular that has always maintained number four status it is now number 61 so why the sudden drop?
It is all EFFED up! |

HONESTLY in the last 2 months and expecially NOW I think I've lost 35% of my sales because of those alghtitm changes...
I have a big portofolio and everytime I can see a big difference in sales when shutterstock is testing something or there's a bug...
This time is the WORST EVER.. I'm really worried and the worst thing is that shutterstock said that there's actually no bug...
I really don't know what to do.. this is absolutely discouraging ......4 years of growth with weekly submissions to see a similar drop down in 2 months..
this is just not normal...
I really hope that someone of SS is going to read our conversations and think about a possible solution :-( |

Same here, I have been lost about 30-40% of my sales since the popular search has been messed up in my port.
I hope also ShutterStock takes note on these bugs and forum post. |

The only way to solve this is write to the support and told then what's happening... I've done it... The more will do the more it will be fixed soon... I hope ;-( |

PLEASE look at this issue SS, it's very disconcerting to see such an important search value seemingly messed up like this. It only seems to be getting worse. |

I can only agree.. From total of 300 images, only the first 24 reflect popularity, these are the best-sellers.
The rest of the Popular search sequence seems like a mess - the images are sorted in the exactly same order as they were approved (batch by batch), forming groups occassionally interrupted by some "solo" images. It doesnt reflect number of downloads at all.
The newest images which had a few sales are completely at the end of this order.
So at the moment it is a strange mixture of Popular, New and Random, it doesnt seem to follow any logical pattern.
Can we please have the Popular search back? |

semmickphoto: The search engine team is aware of the comments on the forum. They are looking at the claims and will continue to review the search engine.
I know you probably want a more complete answer than that, but this is perhaps the most complicated aspect of our site and not as easy as it is to just refer someone to another department.
When I can tell you more, I will let you know.
Thank you,
