Evidently there are many of us here using Photoshop Elephants and Layer Masks can only be done by workarounds. The website listed contains a program which will give you some functionality of a Layer Mask (not sure if 100% like photoshop,havent touched photoshop in 5 years).
it works in Elephants V4 and V5.
