I had good intentions of getting to bed by midnight. Then my hubby informed me there was a frog outside our door. How could I resist the photo-op?
I gently trapped him in a mason jar and let him loose in my light tent. Omg, he/she wasn't interested in hopping out! I hurriedly shot off some frames. Wow, I don't even have to talk, though I find myself talking to the frog...
How about 'this angle', as I coax him to turn gently... emboldened by his lack of panic, I continue to shoot horizontal framing, vertical framing, running up stairs to get my extension tubes (yeah, I had my hubby keep an eye on him while he was watching Jay Leno).
Able to try all the tube lengths. Froggie seems to actually like the light tent... ok, time to add the 500D to my 105mm on extension tubes... wow you can see the umbrella reflections in his eye... hmmm, stock agency might not like the shallow DOF and declare too much OOF at this very shallow DOF...
1+ GB later, I think I have taken all the shots I can imagine...but I must be forgetting something and a shoot like this doesn't happen every day... no model release required, behaves well, price is right...
Unable to think of any more angles and way past my bedtime I gently transport him and let him go into my garden... oh no, I forgot to try the 50mm f 1.4 reversal lens on my set up :(
Ah well, I hope he enjoyed the light and warmth of the light tent as much as I enjoyed the perfect model shoot.
He was a true prince. |

I have always loved frogs and toads since I was a young boy.
I look forward to seeing your photos from this fun shoot.
I have some shots of a nice toad (visiting my motherinlaw in arizona) who is wearing a crown!
I beleve him to be a handsom prince cursed by a wicked witch.
after taking his pics I too set him free to go eat bugs and maybe find his princess toad
let us know when your frog pics are up
Great story by the way :)

Thanks, Mike, for your kind comments :) Your prince is indeed handsome!
Here is the first upload to my gallery just as an example. He is a Wood Frog (Rana sylvatica) :)
