Why does it have to be so expensive in Europe?
Price (body only)
• US: $ 1799
• UK: £ 1299
• EU: € 1980
1980 EUR= 2679.93 USD
Like where's the sense in that? Well, I can only hope that D200's price tag will drop significally. |

I figured as much. I just bought my D200 8 months ago. I won't be upgrading anytime soon. |

Im tempted.
My old d 50 is beginning to sound like a russian panzer.
Full frame.. With the d3. Im not sure it will be an advantage. But everybody praises it.
Makes the wideangels wider and my macro shorter.
Or have I misunderstood something.
What happens to sharpness and details of fx macrophotos when they are spread over the double number of pixels? |

I thought I read somewhere that you have to have completely different lenses for a full frame sensor. Is that right or wrong? Anyone know? |

Generally yes (your 35mm film camera lenses are full frame and will work on the full frame D3), but I think I read the D3 will automatically make the 1.5 crop if you attach one of the DX lenses.

well, I hope not completely new. They would work wont they?
So its just recalculating everything by 1,5?
I guess thats the way it goes in the future. Some say we will end with full frame and 25 m pix.
Considering the development of earlier times larger film formats, i think digital sensors may move that way also.
Imagine an ajustable tip-over sensor to capture unlimited DOF! |

Simply because the American market is important to hold. Then they dump them there and let the rich Europeans pay for the difference.
supply and demand... and holding market shares and reputation on a mainstream marked. |

Any chance you'll be going to NY before Lisbon? Can I put an order for a canon lens whilst you're there? you add your percentage, whatever, I'll still be paying less than over here... |

I think you are right, JPS, to be concerned about the FX design for nature photography (like your awesome butterflies!) Thomas Hogan talks a bit about the new cameras, pixel density and similar concerns here:

I would be happy with the D300!! |
