Yesterday I had 991 images in my gallery. Today I have 985. Yet I did not delete any. How can that be?

This is not a bug, so I am moving it to the General Forum.

6 of your photos were keyworded with "Canadian" and "coin". These were deleted because Canadian coins have a specific copyright issue due to the Queens face. At closer look, it seems that your images were of American money. This raises an issue of keyword spamming because there does not appear to be anything Canadian in the photos.

Please be more careful about how you keyword in order to avoid issues like this in the future.

Thanks.

Setho - any chance we can get an email when issues like this occur letting us know images have been refused/deleted after the fact? I don't think it has happened to me, but in case an issue like this comes up in the future, I'd like to know it happened.

I know it's a pain, but I like to keep track of where I have images and if it's a potential issue here, then chances are, it's a potential issue elsewhere. It helps me keep up with current issues (it's a continuing education process that will keep me from making the same mistake in the future). :)

Thanks for your help and thanks for looking out for us.

To my knowledge, we do send out emails when photos are removed from the site. You may want to check your SPAM folder to see if the email was sent there.

I was not aware of the copyright issue with the Queen's face; I'll look into this further. But this was only an issue with 1 of the 6 images. And I included the word "Canadian" in the keywords, because there is Canadian money in the photos. So your reasons for deleting all 6 images makes no sense to me.

I suspect the real issue here is American patriotism since this series of images showed the rising Canadian dollar against the falling American dollar. I was not trying to belittle the USA, but rather trying to portray an historic event through conceptual images.

I am just going to assume this is a joke and move on.

At any rate, I had to remove all images keyworded with "Canadian" and "coin". Since there were so many images with these keywords I could not go through and differentiate and leave out those images that were improperly keyworded.

Thanks,

Andrea

What about images that were properly keyworded with "Canadian" and "coin" that did not show the Queen's face? Images of othr Canadian coins? Images of a person holding a Canadian flag and some coins? Ok, maybe that one is a stretch. But seriously. How is this an effective way of removing images?

All six images contained Canadian coins.

All six images were deleted because they contained the keywords "Canadian" and "coins".

I still don't get it.

The point is that you cannot have the Canadian coins on our site because of the Queen's face. There is no easier way to explain this.

But if the Canadian coin, or any other commonwealth nation's coins, do not show the queen's face (the reverse side of the coin), what then? Does anyone actually look at the image before deleting it?

I really don't understand why this has become such a heated debate. It was requested that we remove all images with Canadian coins from the site. Because there were HUNDREDS of images like this, I could not go in and check each image individually. Therefore, I had to batch delete images keyworded with "Canadian" and "coin".

This is not a matter of "patriotism", bitterness, spite or anything else. Honestly guys, sometimes a cigar really is just a cigar. There were no ulterior motives involved with deleting the images. We have to cooperate with copyright laws, end of story. If you have the time and will to do an independent study on this particular topic, by all means, please do.

Thanks,

Andrea
