Elenissima! because of the business model they use there is no possibility to download individual images. It seems they will be offering this service in the future and I am looking forward to it, like all the other changes on this site which seem very promessing :) |

Convert money earned to download other stock photos:
1: Get 695 dls
2: Get paid
3: click here and buy a month subscription

I know it's been discussed before and I wonder if this would be given some serious consideration for those of us who are also designers (but not to the extent that we could benefit from a full subscription).
Here's my idea.
When you click on an image to download it first checks to see if you are a submitter and then if so lets you download the image at the cost of $0.40 or $0.46 (depending on the commission for that photographer). The balance is immediately removed from your own account and then split between the image acct and Shutterstock.
I'd use it if it were available. As it stands, I can convert my earnings (and also have some credits on account) at other agencies, so when I come across something I like (where ever I happen to be) - I then check to see if it is where I have the credits so I can download it. Maybe other photographer (artists)/designers are also doing this. If it was available here - it would be the most economical and everyone would still make money.
What do you think? |

0.40 - 0.46 ? thats far too cheap. I would suggest between $1-3$ dollars an image depending on size where the photographer gets 50%.
Everything else, I agree on. |

Hm,
I cannot share this opinion.
Why do you think a Photo of you is less worth than a Photo that you want?
I would even suggest, one to one. Why not?
Yes of course SS would earn nothing in this case, but it would also be no effort for SS.
SS live on the Photographer who gave there pics away for micropayment.
I would also download some pics of others for use, but only one for one, my work is not less worth than other.

SS is a business, not a file sharing service. It will be very easy for all the clients of SS to then just create a photographer account, upload a few non descript images and start downloading what they need for next to nothing. I suggest keep this model, its because of it that this is the highest earning stock site that I submit to. Keep up the good work guys! |

I suggested that amount because of what we are already earning, why would you expect to earn more than that for the same images - same agency? and in particular from your peers? It's still 50/50 the way I suggested it.
An even 'trade' would not be business like (unsolicited concessions always lead to unreasonable demands) anyone who's ever owned a business would understand that - besides the fact that it would cause problems of collusion where one person would buy up anothers images to get them to a level of getting a cheque.
Any kind of tangible payment to us - be it money or images is very encouraging and motivating.
I would love to hear admins feelings on this. |

Wink wink.
Imagine this:
A contributer has $46 dollars earnings and converts it to 100 credits. SS gets $23 right away as their share. Just for the sake of example, this person uses all 100 credits on only one member who then uses the $23 they earned to convert to 50 credits - at which time SS gets another $11.50 right away and again for this example the credits are spent on one member and then that person converts their $11.50 into 25 credits and SS gets another $5.75 and again the credits are all spent on one member who converts the earnings to 12 credits and SS immediately gets $2.76 and again the credits are spent on one member who then converts their earnings from them to 6 credits and SS gets another $1.38 and again the credits are all spent on one member who converts those earnings to 3 credits, at which time SS gets another $0.69 and again the credits are all spent on one member who converts those earnings to 1 credit and SS gets another $0.23...
As the example shows, SS gets almost the entire $46 ($45.77 in this example because of division along the way) - which would also happen if that contributer never reached a payout level (but we'll assume that's not what is hoped for or what happens in most cases). You'll notice it has also generated 197 sales which is highly motivating to contributers, and the ones converting earnings have great stock images at a great price.
The 'funny' posts in this thread are understandable, but it would be nice to hear a serious one from admin when time allows.
Thanks! Cheers! (you'll need a beer if you care to check my figures). |

The only spot I can see that falling down is the fact that *potentially*, ShutterStock gets more than 23c per image... not everyone that subscribes to the site downloads 300+ images per month, which is roughly what they'd take to give a 'break even' 23c for the photographer, 23c for the site... people may well be happy with 100 images in a month for the price they're paying, as it's still better than 50-75 images on a CD, plus they get their choice of what they download...
The model also falls down if the '1 day' download comes in - I don't think one day of downloads is going to come in at $11.50, somehow... (25 images at 46c each) :-)
Cheers,

Discussions brings more talented discussions which may result in bitching in the end.
It should be
Is it in consideration by SS?
will it be possible?
if so when?
What will be the conversion factor?
Thats all! |
